  • S&P 500 Weekly Earnings Update: Still Looking For $120 For Full-Year 2014 EPS [View article]
I am new in working with metrics. I understand PE is the ratio of dividing the stock price by the most recent earnings, average earnings of a certain period or other method of calculating earnings. What I do not understand is the 1.75x, 1.6x, 1.44x, etc...Could somebody explain me in simple terms what is the meaning of this metric and how it is calculated??

Craig Keolanui, I have a question for you: Where do you learn to analyze stocks and how could you be paid by Seeking Alpha for being so stupid in analyzing stocks. All of your "predictions or picks" have been going to the sewer since the time you wrote this "highly professional" article. As analyst you do not worth a sh%$*&T. Fortunately I go more in deep in my search and did not invested in ANY of the stock you mentioned and I am sorry for all the fools who followed your advice.

Siri does not want and should not want ever to be sold unless the price is right. If you do not like the price DO NOT BUY IT!!! What is the rationale of siri management to sell to liberty ZEROOOOOOOOOOOOOO unless the premium is 50% or so. This is the reality rather than conceptual idle talk about what is worth what!!!

I prefer to wait two more years for $5.50 than to receive $3.68 today (not to many businesses grow 50% in two years). NOOOOOO to malone's intentions. he has been unsuccessful in doing the same with TWC and now wants SIRI's money and destroy its strong balance sheet for his own benefit. Do not believe in what our two "writers" say, since they seems to be more interested in LMCA's benefit than in SIRIUS. What is their percentage in $ of their shares in each of both companies???.

Even with half, or less than half of that value the offer is only a maneuver from malone to use its billions against normal minority owners as me.

  • Stocks turn decidedly lower as Cyprus' ruling party will apparently abstain from the bailout vote, thus assuring its failure. The ball now moves back to Brussels, where the ECB has threatened to withhold funding from Cyprus' banks if the bailout (and depositor haircut) isn't passed. Stoxx 50 (FEZ) -1.5%, S&P 500 (SPY) -0.5%, the euro (FXE) -0.5%[View news story]
It is a good lesson for all those millionaires who have deposits in that "financial heaven" instead of having them legally in better quality banks in their own countries. Now they have to pay for inflating artificially the Cyprus economy. Cyprus must tax more the clients with millionaire deposits and have a significantly low tax for those middle class people with "normal" deposits. At the end it is a good lesson for those tax evaders and for the countries with "safe heaven" banks. I hope that due to this waiting time they have not been able to move thir deposits to other safe heavens.

  • National gasoline prices - up $0.50 just in the last month - have hit the $3.75-$4.00 zone known in the past for being "problematic" for stocks, says BTIG's Dan Greenhaus. The most worrisome part, he says, is the increase has come before the demand of spring driving season arrives. Instead of worrying, why not go with the flow and buy the refiners? [View news story]
Not completely true. Trices of finished gas do not depend entirely on oil prices. The main factor are the greedy money and power ambitious refiners. That is an oligopoly who control the production of the finish product (gasoline) and control prices. they do not depend on the President. Depend on us who allow tose big refinery companies to exploit us.

  • The Financial Reporting Council, the U.K.'s accounting watchdog, is investigating Autonomy's earnings reports from January 1 2009 to June 30 2011, three months before H-P's (HPQ) ill-fated acquisition. The probe comes after the U.S. company wrote down the value of the $8.8B deal in November and accused Autonomy's former management of accounting improprieties. [View news story]
I can not understand how so many mismanagement from upper management, specially CEO,s, in so many companies BofA, C, HP, etc...and the only one that I heard the new management are looking for a reimbursment or following criminal charges against the involved people is HP (even though the actual CEO was in the board and voted in favor of the Autonomy failure). Others companies, mainly banks, even gave juicy rewards (payments) to the management guilty of the failure of big companies such as Merrill Lynch.
