Could the government let AIG (AIG) fail? Hard to say for sure without the facts, Baseline Scenario's James Kwak says. "The government by now has had six months to study the books of AIG and its major domestic counterparties. P.S. I'll bet I'm not the only one who is irritaed by the fact that GS has had this inside track for the past year, and has been able to essentially "insider-trade" the market on this info. They should have been able to game the market thusly with short-term options and even on their on stock futures for billions, or else they are idiots.
