  • IMF director general Dominique Strauss-Kahn has been arrested in New York minutes before leaving on a flight for France, and is accused of a sexual attack on a hotel maid in NYC. Strauss-Kahn is expected to be a candidate for president of France in 2012. Update at 11:15 PM: NYPD says it's anticipated he'll be charged with "a criminal sexual act, attempted rape, and unlawful imprisonment" within the hour.  [View news story]
    Depends on your perspective.

The maid who has no education or prospects and now barely gets by earning 10 bucks an hour is about to become a wealthy lady.

He's fucked in many ways, either way. I am not going to portend that I know what the political implications are of this alleged tryst/ assault, but i'm sure someone stands to benefit, and others to lose. I hope he has his coming to him here if he's an animal.

I consider a feminist. I object to calling this person a little girl as it is very insulting to little girls.

  • Monday's after-hours glitch should spark more concern than it has: When exchange officials "basically try to sweep it under the rug and say it is nothing... you leave the door open for this to happen again and again... [If] investors at large do not have trust in the system, then the system will fail to exist." Reminder: the flash crash, one year ago this Friday.  [View news story]

Rule # 1. Don't even think of day trading until you know what you are doing. Just go to AC or Vegas instead, your odds are almost 50/50 there.

Mark, please explain why you have traded your silver for gold and not platinum. Pt has not had the run of gold. You are assumedly selling silver because of its run. So, why not Platinum ???

I like your comment on education costs. If I go to the effort to save for a year of college for my 4 year old (which wasn't child's play) in SPY, I'm just playing the lottery. In this circumstance, I'd be better off in a metals basket (Pt, Au, Ag, Cu). The Chinese would agree (note to author).
