  • Pioneer High Income Trust's 45% Premium Looks Ripe For Contraction In 2015 [View article]
The fund itself is pretty good. That's why the market has trusted it in the past years driving the current overprice which anyway has dropped ($17.29) since its peak at $18.60.
I think the article explains it well.
PHT is good if you catch a good entry point. Not at this time. But at $15 or even at $15.50 I think it's ok.
Pioneer's curriculum shows this company is quote good in choosing the high risk/high yield bonds with few cases of default.

  • We've Now Approached 'Stupid' Levels For Prospect Capital [View article]
Yes, you can create your own dividend if you want with a capital growth stock but realizing some profits from time to time by selling few shares. The only difference is for tax purpose, in practice, the most important is the total ROI no matter if it comes by increasing share price or stable share price with distributions.

I think it is a smart move, but just in case, try to diversify.

  • Prospect Capital: Good Times For Yield Hunters? [View article]
what is the difference ? you can build your own income with less dividends and more capital appreciation by profiting gains from time to time. Is that all about taxes ? 90% of these high dividend stocks are all tricky, you end up almost always with a lower ROI than the market average.

TICC has been a disaster too. NMFC one of the least worse.

Have a look to NMFC, much safer and more stable.
Otherwise a very good ETF is PHT. I will re-enter PSEC today at $8.6x , after having sold it few week ago.
BDCs have had a very bad month.

NTLS has stopped paying dividends. It shouldn't be listed this article.
Lack of research from the author.

  • 8 Sector Topping Dividend Dogs Go For 10.5% To 30.7% September Upsides [View article]
NTLS has suspended its dividend payment after an agreement with Sprint in May.
It is absolutely misleading to list it amongst the dividend stocks.

  • 8 Sector Topping Dividend Dogs Go For 10.5% To 30.7% September Upsides [View article]
i WAS asking the same question.
They had never delayed a dividend in the past years, so this is a bad sign indeed.
Since i have started to watch analysts recomendations, i have just lost money. In the months when i decided for a 0 suscriptions policy, i was always doing very well. So take the analysts reccomendation with a grain of salt.

Hallo. Thank you for the article.
What do you think about PDLI ?
It has beaten all estimates , do you think it's currently overestimated or its current price has a solid base ?
There was a panic selling a couple of years ago for some expiring patents, but it has managed to get through it quite well.

  • Make 70% A Year With Math [View article]
Yes, this is the point: if you have a good algo, you wouldn't sell it.
If you sell it, it's because it has been blown already, otherwise it doesn't make sense.

  • Make 70% A Year With Math [View article]
I agree. There are tons of nerds who claim (probably sincerely) returns of 70-80-100% in a year for 2-3 years, than ....they disappear....
I wonder what happened in the fourth year....
In the very long term (a working life span) 20% a year in average is already a great feat.
