    I have one word for all of you, the author included: butanol. It is an alternate bioholds trajectory that avoids the massive infrastructure and engine replacements required by ethanol regardless of source. The fact is, ethanol was an ill-researched choice to "get the ball rolling"; it's a useful oxygenate in gasoline to replace MTBE, but not appropriate as an alternative fuel.

    I'm not clear on Khosla's position on this, but BP, DuPont and others have tipped their cards; see:
