  • The Keystone XL Pipeline, Derailed? [View article]
sk You failed to mention that the pipeline delay has cost as the author pointed out 300 Billion which was mostly accumulated by heavy Obama/Democrat contributtor Warren Buffet's BNSE-railroad.

  • The Keystone XL Pipeline, Derailed? [View article]
sk One must remember that American oil companies own a lot of that oil and have made huge investments in it. They no longer have any ownership in Venezuelan oil as it has been nationalized and Mexican oil has always been nationalized. Integrated companies would most likely be interested in refining their own source. I would not refer to this important resource as crap.

  • The Keystone XL Pipeline, Derailed? [View article]
stary kozel Many gulf coast refineries were deigned to refine heavy crude
from Mexico and Venezuela. To much light crude is available. I think Natural gas derivatives are used most often to help heavy crude through the pipes.

  • Fragile Five EMs Redefined? ETFs To Watch [View article]
I expect manufacturing will over time become the sector that will best support the Mexican economy in the future. Demographics, truck and train transportation to US markets, availability of cheap Nat gas, large auto plants being constructed, using port facilities in Mexico is cheaper than US west coast, and positive political changes are a few of the positives leading me to this conclusion. I have a small position in (EWW).

  • One Guess At The Second Most Recognizable Phrase In The World... [View article]
Stock buybacks do onto always enhance investor interest in the company. Quite often they are used to reward management and board members to the detriment of stockholders and do not lead to a reduction in share count but only redistribute them to at a cost to common shareholders. Recently the management of KO was embroiled in a controversy over managements benefits. With your bullish article could could have outlined these two situations to be fair.

  • Kinder Morgan to pay $27.5M to settle partnership lawsuits [View news story]
It seems to me that in a lot of cases it is smarter to buy the general partner then the MLP due to the increasing IRs and other factors. In the case of KMI this certainly would have been the case. At the point in time that I was leaning toward General partners instead of MLPs I never envisioned a general partner buying back the MLPs and the tax carnage it created for long time holders of their MLPs. Talk about the snake you don't see being the one that bites you. The distribution of the MLP being referred to as a dividend or yield,I think really causes many folks to misinterpret and misunderstand many of the ramifications(risks) of MLP ownership.

  • Chesapeake Is Less Attractive Than Encana [View article]
The CHK losses you referred to are mostly due to a required write down of assets. This is a quirk in GAAP accounting requirements which has almost nothing to do with the acttual profitability of the enterprise. I concur with O&G geo's last comment.

David White Yes Conversion to natural gas fuel by large surface transportation vehicles due to environment imperatives is a big factor worldwide that is almost always overlooked in articles about future nat gas demand.

  • Chesapeake Energy: Don't Be A Seller At Multi-Year Lows [View article]
(Hewitt) I like Bill O'Neil and IBD, but would you consider him an investor or a trader? What will become of CHK and companies like them will depend on how quickly Nat gas pushes into energy markets now owned by coal, diesel, & gasoline and feed stock markets owned by oil and coal. Infrastructure build out, pipelines, LNG facilities, chemical and fertilizer plants are also future considerations. Environmental concerns will be driving most of these changes.
