  • Fast Money Recap - Fourth Day's a Charm (11/26/08) [View article]
    Hmm…..not personally convinced.
I think business like Wal-mart is absolutely solid in any time. Sure enough you may have profit ups & downs but in the long run I’d say it’s quite safe.
But again everyone has own opinion.

  • Networking Stocks: Cisco and Juniper [View article]
Interesting analysis & I think you are right in your conclusion – Juniper should recover quicker & perform better over the long term.
Cisco’s already a market share leader with their share of business IT spend going only one way – DOWN.
Juniper’s brining in some very good products such as wan optimisation where they are leading in front of Cisco by miles.
Complacency is another Cisco’s issue - see what happened with Nortel. They go complacent years ago when they were strong, they service went down and you can see now, they are on the brink of bankruptcy.
I am not saying Cisco is going bust but in terms of share performance I think Juniper has much more upside.

  • Cisco Systems' Next Move: Managed Services [View article]
    Joe – all good points.
Managed services are key not only for HW manufactures but also for Telecom providers who both have offerings in this space.
However Cisco is obviously not alone - Juniper for example have been focusing on managed services for years already and are ahead of the game vs. Cisco on some key networking components such are application acceleration.
The game is on, the environment is changing rapidly so the new competitors like Google will very soon needs to be taken into account so definitely work keeping an eye on the this fast growing area of networking.

  • Enjoy the Strong U.S. Dollar While You Can [View article]
    Peter is right.
In the long run it’s impossible for dollar to continue with the current strength considering the massive deficits on all accounts US is currently running.
The only reason currency is not down yet is that china holds trillions in US currency reserves and they would not want or allow it all to become worthless overnight – but in some time, we’ll see…

  • Nortel Is a Billion Dollar Company [View article]
I have to say this was a long time coming to Nortel.
I have been dealing with them over the years and the quality of their services has been terrible.
Businesses have to realise that it’s not simply enough to have a good product – you have to offer service, pre & post market , training, solid channel support etc…
Nortel failed on all of those years ago so it’s no surprise to me this has happened.

  • General Electric: Genuine Risk of Collapse? [View article]
Bloddy rubbish – ask the bloke who wrote this crap how muck money does he make writing this stuff & you’ll understand it all

Everyone has issues in today’s environment & debt is clearly one of them but the extent of issues this article is listing is wrong

He’s basically turned every possible thing into a negative – eg.
Technology Infrastructure is dependent on airline and military spending. Airlines are struggling just to survive and conserve cash. The Obama administration is likely to reduce military spending dramatically.

WRONG: why? In recession any gov is likely to increase spending on infrastructure & military

And so on with most of the claims ….pure scare mongering
