    is a gross distortion. Newspapers are extremely profitable. Their profits have fallen, but they have not had enormous financial losses.

    Yahoo subsidizes the news through it's deal with AP.

    We can do without the metros, because the smaller dailies and weeklies are where the majority of people get news that is important to them. They have voted with their pocketbooks by choosing not to renew their subscription to the metros.
