  • Chinese stock plunge leads Asia lower [View news story]
There's no way to tell because there's no way to tell how many days it would take for it to get to 2k, nor what the % moves it would have in those individual days. Not saying it is or isn't going to 2k, just saying yang moves 3x the daily move if whatever index it tracks. It going to 2k in one day from here is a 43% move and 3 * 43 = 129% up from whatever yang is at to begin that day.

I'm more unclear as to how Ying (3x bull) would react as I don't see how it could drop by more than 100%.

That's just my understanding...I would also love to know, so if anyone else has more clarity or notices any mistake I made please chime in.

You're right...the presidents plan is to force us taxpayers to pay for it. And if not, then it just means their will be less money to be made off of these new drugs. What does he/you think is going to happen when there is less money to be made? Less new cures. You're right, it will be an interesting next few years...unfortunately not in a good way.

  • Yelp Faces A Major User Problem [View article]
Yelp has a pr problem, I know I uninstalled because of the thought that they were strong arming small businesses. And it will take a long time for them to gain my trust back, if ever. Sucks too, it was the best I've used since the "local" app that used to come stock on android. But if there are questions on whether we are actually getting the real reviews or not, then there is no point in using their reviews portion of their services.

  • "Here's a novel way to drive up a company’s share price," writes the NYT's Jeff Sommer. "Pay billions of dollars in additional taxes." Forensic accountant Robert Olstein reckons that companies such as Apple (AAPL), Microsoft (MSFT) and Cisco (CSCO) should repatriate the tens of billions dollars they hold abroad, pay tax on it, and then use the rest of the cash to repurchase stock. That would boost their share prices by at least 20%. [View news story]
It would be almost criminal for a corporation not to take advantage of whatever tax advantages (or loopholes as you and Mr. Obama like to beat into everyone's head) it can to benefit shareholders.

  • Facebook (FB +1.4%) is now experimenting with allowing companies to place ads in a user's news feed even if (unlike with Sponsored Stories) a user or his/her "friends" haven't shown an interest in the company's products. Such a move could dramatically increase Facebook's ad inventory. The company has been scrambling to come up with new ad formats as pressure grows to bolster slumping growth. I agree. If this makes you delete your account, you probably weren't an active user anyway. I think Facebook needs to get a clearer picture of who is actually active users. I'm afraid it's not going to be good news short term but I think they could then concentrate where they need to. I really think these mobile active users is more Facebook just sending you an update that someone commented on a photo and that person seeing the notification and just clearing the notification and not actually going to fb.

  • AT&T (T) has reportedly been instructing store managers to discourage customers from buying iPhones (AAPL), and instead steer them towards Android and Windows Phone devices. The iPhone's higher subsidies, and AT&T's efforts to reduce subsidy expenses, could be the reason. Verizon has also been trying to lower iPhone sales, reportedly in order to migrate users to its 4G network. AT&T's iPhone sales fell 14% Q/Q in Q2 to 3.7M.  [View news story]
I have moved from apple to android and lost absolutely nothing. It's a SIMPLE device. It works well (which is a big deal). That's it. You can do more for less on android phones. That's what having competition in the products you buy does for you. I will say apple TV is a cool idea. Bought it 6 months ago, used it three times in the first month, not once since. Nothing gained, $100 lost. Yea buy the new iPhone. And then be forced to buy all new accessories for it because they want to change the port they use that for some reason can't be anywhere close to the majority of ports used in other devices around the world. And you mentioned finger Jesture's. Yea apple was first, and what do you know, have some competition and it becomes better. Android when you double tap it automatically resizes the paragraphs so you can blow it up as big as you want and still fit the paragraph in the screen without scrolling left to right. Nothing lost. Only gains. I'm happy for you that you will finally have real navigation only 6 years late and the option for 4g only two years late. And I'm glad you finally have the option of a bigger screen, only 2 years late. Have fun buying the iPhone next year 2013 when they only add a megapixel to the camera. Yay!

You sound like followers of communists governments. Don't you see how great this is, without realizing that you have to wait on them for everything when you could just have it in the US and have it work on all platforms.

But a real question, what do you do when your computer dies and you have to begin iTunes all over again. Even if you have every song, movie, app, etc saved on a backup hard drive. Is there any way to duplicate iTunes from one computer to another without losing all the organization that took FOREVER to complete?
Or is this just another way apple forces you to buy everything from them to keep it organized?
