    WayneS:

Thanks again for your excellent comments and your kind clarification!

We're certainly kindred spirits - especially regarding the artificial and often self-deceptive use of the word GREEN. To you my hat is off in full agreement that GREEN is overused and overrated. One doesn't have to look far to find people falling over themselves to "see their self in the mirror as GREEN", no matter how far in the red they have to go to do it (Cash for clunkers anyone??).

My comments on geothermal focus on it's investment appeal and potential based on the fact that geothermal is proven, it's real, and the world-over seems ecstatic to overturn sanity at the mere mention of GREEN. Since GREEN is mesmorizing the world, any technology which shows certain obvious and real advantages over other energy harvesting techniques is a potentially magnanimous investment winner.

Couple that perceived-public-value advantage to a proven, rapidly accelerating technology that most people are not yet aware of and the marketing guys can then add the word NEW (that tried and true marketing term powerful enough to open locks on the heaviest purse).

The sound of the of the carnival barkers is beginning to echo through the cavernous empyting oil wells: "Laaaadies and Gentlemennnnn: We have a NEW - GREEN - SAVIOR! GEOTHERMAL! We will redeploy the technologies we already know well to geothermal. Jobs, Jobs, Jobs. . . We will heat with the NEWEST, the BEST, the ETERNAL GREEN FLAMES!"

Geothermal genuinely does have certain greener attractions than other energy harvesting techniques. Geothermal is of course no cure-all. It is a "cure-some" and in certain cases maybe even a "cure-many" with the potential for a major wave of "cure-all enthusiasm" from the investing public. The marketers won't care whether it's cure-all or some. The public obviously won't care about logic based on reality (It is again asked, Cash for Clunkers anyone?). We will all; however, benefit from Geothermal. It pays for itself, needs no subsidy; yet, from the investor viewpoint it is being heavily subsidized by governments around the world. Imagine governments advertising about how "smart" they have been with taxpayer dollars. There's no need to imagine, because they are already doing it!

    See bx.businessweek.com/gr.../

Geothermal is showing strong signs of having terrific investment potential for years to come. Some of the best serially successful entrepreneurs on the planet are committed to mine the heat and fan the flames!

Thanks for your input! None of the concerns you have mentioned are new and all are currently being handled for oil, gas, and water wells, i.e. the technology already exists and is already handling those issues. As to scaling, it's also well understood. As to the whether the technology works, Geothermal energy production has already been in the United States since 1960. It is rapidly advancing around the world, because technology advances have made it increasingly cost effective. So far as geothermal processes; such as reinjection, that's also been occuring without fanfare. Have a look at Ormat (another excellent geothermal provider): www.ormat.com/about.ph....

Normally Occurring Radioactive Materials (NORM) is a real, but a well known hazard associated not only with drilling, but any kind of earth movement; such as mining, grading, granite countertops, etc. Again, NORM is already defined and it even occurs naturally on even undisturbed earth surfaces.

Geothermal currently supplies only a small fraction of the world's electricity. It has continued to "grow-up". It's about to transition from an adolescent to a lean/mean fast running clean machine. Multiple means of power generation will continue, but Geothermal's time to florish is at hand. The technology is proven and ready and the world is ready for it.

One other point to add: Note how the world funding organizations and carbon footprint issues are handily focusing on geothermal to the rescue. Furthermore, third-world countries are rapidly embracing geo-power as a terrific means of leveraging themselves out of poverty, oil or little oil. Read a few of the press releases at the Ram Power Site: www.ram-power.com/, and you'll see for yourself.

Obviously, I'm passionate about geothermal for many reasons, do recognize there are short-term hurdles to overcome - which are rapidly being overcome, and believe the best time to be passionate as an investor is a short-time (1-5 years maybe) before others become passionate. If you missed the opportunity of a lifetime investing from the March lows, take a deep look at geothermal, which may be the Grand Opportunity of a lifetime. Get in low and watch the stocks (and soon thereafter) the dividends grow 24x7!

Speaking of alternative energy investments, consider GeoThermal Energy. It's as green as it gets, is proven to work, is 24x7 available, is still relatively unknown to the investing public, emits no carbon or radiation, is being subsidized (though subsidization is a bonus not a necessity) by governments "in search of green banners" all over the world. A couple of companies to consider and in which I am invested: Magma Energy: MXY, www.magmaenergycorp.co....

Magma is headed by Ross Beaty - Serially Successful Entrepreneur, www.rightsidenews.com/....

Consider also RAM Power, freshly merged from three smaller geothermal companies in order to position into ever larger opportunities, including institutional investment interest by Wall Street: www.ram-power.com/.

There are of course other geothermal companies to consider; however, these are 2 of my personal favorites poised for rapid growth over the next few years.

Ross Beaty in particular just has an uncannyily clear head and a proven record of focus on where to go, how to get there, and rapidly achieving the goal. Rick Rule (well known natural resources investor) says that "he has always lost when betting against Ross Beaty".

Every investment course action is uncertain of course, but when I think of Nuclear's side effects, coal's carbon footprint, biofuel's disruption of feed crops, etc., compared to something as innoculous as very small footprint per megawatt geothermal power plant; such as that now silently powering Yellowstone National Park, the public will be drawn magnetically to geothermal, for as we all know, the soil of their imagination and fruit of their highest desires is currently GREEN; though, we still want our electricity 24x7!
