In general, rice might not be a good ethanol solution, but it would seem to be possible solution to the Fukushima rice problem. Couldn't the radiation-contaminated rice currently in stockpiles be converted safely to ethanol? And couldn't farmers in that region with contaminated soil continue to grow rice for ethanol, rather than having the fields sit fallow?

While rice not make much sense as ethanol in general in Japan, it would seem to be a perfect solution to the Fukushima rice problem. Because of radiation, the rice grown in that region last year sits in stockpiles--perhaps it could be safely converted to ethanol?
