Great insights, as always. To answer the rhetorical question of whether it is possible to talk our way out of a recession... well, to some degree we can. After all, it's a meaningful part of how we got here in the first place. While the fundamentals were certainly in place for a recession, hysterical amplification froze the economy. Why not do a little thawing with some happy talk? Unfortunately, once you break a vase by waving your arms around like a lunatic, it doesn't fix itself once you become calm. But in a composed state, it does help to say things like "it's just a vase" and "I've got some terrific quick-drying glue in my toolbox".
