$10 an Hour Pay Gap = Billions of Extra Dollars a Year [View article]
i think these so-called auto experts are the root of the problem! look at cunsumer reports-they only give imports an a+ rating. we can produce the best cars in the world, but these "experts" convince the public our cars are junk! gm and toyota are in nummi in california, make a comparable car with only a grille and other cosmetics, and the toyota gets the good buy rating! this gentleman who wrote this should spend a day in a nice hot gm foundry, or a component plant! all these guys tell about is the 1% of deadbeat employees, not the other 99% who are job-conscious! gm needs to get by for a year, then when they've purged the older workforce, their hourly employees will only make $14-16.00 with no pension, or insurance when they retire! as a proud uaw-gm retiree, i earned my pension and benefits, through all the miserable hot work i tolerated to get these gains! i wasn't sitting in a nice air-conditioned office, as these "experts were, i was in a bad environment making "world class" castings for gm, chrysler, detroit diesel and more! remember that the great reagan declared this country "a service economy", and this is what we have left of the greatest manufacturing country in the world!

pres. obama is only protecting the taxpayer's interests, unlike the previous bush-cheney corporation! the only reason george loaned money to gm is he didn't want gm's going under on his legacy! they really didn't give a crap about the employees and communities they've destroyed, as long as they left with a pocket full of money from oil and gas co.'s and speculator money that filled their blind trusts! their policies will take years to undo, and we'll all have to pay for the bush-cheney co.'s screwing they left us !!!!!!!!
Let's Hope the Auto Bailout Has Failed for Good [View article]
the idea that a few republicans control the livelyhood of several million families tied into the auto mfg. business is sickening! mcconnell has gm plants in his own district in kentucky, and shelby has the same! the big difference is that they are paid for by the transplant foreign companies! gm and the uaw have a big change in the last contract that future newhires only will make $14-16.00 hourly, NO pension, NO insurance when they retire, i think that will be LESS than the foreign plant pays their help!!! these few republicans HATE unions so bad, they'll take down the whole u.s. economy just to fulfill their vendetta!!!
Why I Take No Issue with the Government Firing GM's Wagoner [View article]
this has been in the works since the reagan administration's stating that wer'e going to be a service economy! i was a registered republican until i saw what was coming! look up the origins of nafta, you'll find reagan's administration into it with the help of the forming multinational corporations! roger b. smith oversaw the demolition of lansing, danville, ill., and many other plants that were transferred to foreign countries! he originated the c.e.o. parachutes, wrecking the company, while bailing out with the unpresidented $1,000,000 per year pension plus other bonuses! i think the obama administration hasn't gone far enough, as they should have fired the whole board of (thieves) directors! gm needs car guys, not bean counters! wagoner don't need any pity, as he's got enough money to live very comfortably for the rest of his life, and he doesn't give a crap about the people who made gm - the workers and retirees!!! i hope obama can fix our economy that's been ruined by the greedy bastards who've got fat off of decent americans!!!!!
guys who think toyota and other imports are smarter, they are right! imports first put communities into bidding wars for the cheapest deals on local taxes, water rates and sewer rates! then they pay their employees less. ok, what's the first big ticket the local tax payers pickup for the imports? fire protection! any town with these plants HAVE to provide fire protection to fight fires for these companies. who pays for this? the local communities! when the locals vote these levies down, guess what? they pay again in higher insurance premiums!!! when the tax incentives are over, and the plants shut down and move onto the next tax shelter, who gets stuck paying the higher water, sewage, fire protection, and other epa related fees to tear down the old plant? the guys who said toyota and import buyers were smarter!! it's time to start thinking about loyalty and patriotism! the unions have done this for years, and tried to tell this to america! we were the ones who made america great, fought to be able to change plants over to wartime production in 8 hours, and put our troops in safe equipment built with pride!! we also built (not designed!) with pride good, and dependable vehicles for many years! when gm and others designed on the cheap, we were blamed for shoddy workmanship, and it was undeserved! look at the price of a vehicle, and we're only 10% or less of the total cost! the rick wagoners of our companies would like you to think we're the problem, but as stated above, they've eaten our company form the inside out starting with roger b. smith!!!!
GM Common Stock Is Worth More than You Think [View article]
olds had the rocket, then came the saturn, now we retirees get a new model, the uranus! we gave all we had to build great cars and trucks, rick wagoner got $ 26 mil, you can guess what we got !!!!!!!
As Goes GM, So Goes U.S. Government Credit [View article]
all these so-called experts are worried about is dumping the unions! this won't make sales any better, look at mexican built gm cars! they are not cheaper!!! the management ran this company into the ground, not the union members!! all these so-called experts are is bean counters, not "car guys"! car guys built products people want, at an affordable price, not $15,000 suvs priced at $65,000! keep taking down the good paying jobs, and the only thing an $8-12 dollar an hour job will buy is a $9,000 piece of crap from korea, or a worn out used car! the greedy bastard who wrecked this company and economy are laughing all the way to the bank!!!
user410955 is a narrow-minded ultra conservative walmart clone! cheap does'nt make our military strong, nor does it pay taxes, buy homes, put money in the church coffers, ect.! you, sir do not have a patriotic bone in your body, only jealousy of what you could have had if you would had the balls to do the repetitive work, breathing hazardous chemicals and building cars and trucks that carried your sorry butt to school and other functions while you were growing up! the true patriots are those who work at gm, ford and chrysler and fought to make life better for everyone! when you buy a foreign piece of crap, you pledge your allegience to japan, korea or where ever you buy your cars! they put a drop in the bucket of the local governments, while taking huge profits home to their overseas countries! mister, we have many veterans who are good patriotic union members, also many good citizens who donate many hours to their communities in various capacities! what have dimwits such as yourself done besides belittle your neighbors when hard times fall on them? nothing!!! thank god there's some good god-fearing patriots left in this country, and most of them are union members!!!!!
Toyota, GM, Ford: Showing Off Green Cars Amid Economic Gloom [View article]
hey rick wagoner- price the damn car where it will sell!!! a $40,000 car won't ever sell in this economy like a $15-20,000 car!! that's how gm will turn around, and why don't you execs cut your pay down where it belongs, about $125,000 base, with NO benefits, or stock options, dental, eye care, hearing ect. like the loyal gm salaried retirees get!!! feed the generals, starve the troops isn't what makes a great company!!!!!
give chrysler another extension, so they can come back! they don't need a foreign company to take them over, look what happened when daimler came into the picture! they took every engineering idea they could back to germany, while putting nothing back into chrysler! while i don't feel bad for the upper mgt., i think america owes it to their hourly workforce to keep them going. also the part suppliers who rely on chrysler's purchase of parts and the communities where chrysler and the like are located! allowing them to just go away is absolutely immoral!!!! come on america, wer'e better than this!!!!!!!!
Why I Take No Issue with the Government Firing GM's Wagoner [View article]
this is the guy who enjoys to kick a union man every chance he gets! he probably voted for bushes 3 times, takes his kia (korea insults americans!) crapmobile downtown with an american pride sticker on the back bumper! no sympthany to the heros who built the greatest country in the world shows he's a fake patriot! you know, the typical walmart shopper who would rather save his precious dollar instead of supporting his local mom &pop store! he don't realize how many veterans are union workers, what the union did to make his life better, or how much more the union employee give to the communities, churches, united way, and have paid out in taxes, both income and property! we probably invested in his paycheck without him even knowing! the unions made sure his parents were treated with respect and dignity through the social security and medicare benefits they used!( the republicans always tried to cut these benefits, and have just about bankrupted the nation for this cause!) buddy, the door was wide open in the 50's, 60's, 70's, 80's and 90's so YOU could have hired in and enjoyed these benefits by getting carpal tunnel, bad shoulders, knees and feet from walking on cement floors for 25-30 years! you could have got silicosis in your lungs, asbestos and other carcinogens to shorten your pathetic life! WE EARNED EVERY LAST DIME IN OUR CHECK AND OTHER BENEFITS! i'm sorry for being a bit sarcastic, but this type of phony patriot is what the far right caters to! they couldn't do an honest day's work if it was required, or they could have organized their own union for economic and social justice! the need for unions has never been greater, so i say "solidarity for ever, for the UNION MAKES US STRONG!!!!!"

part of gm's problem has been no difference in models as in years back! each had it's own features which allowed them to take market share. i remember the lawsuits in the mid-late 70's when oldsmobile sold so many cars, gm substituted the "rocket v-8" with a chevrolet 350 v-8! not that a bowtie engine wasn't good, it was the fact the loyal olds buyers wanted the rocket engine in their 98 or 88, or cutlass! i remember because i was proud of the blocks and heads we turned out of the defiance foundry! we also made all of the gray iron blocks for cadillacs, and chrysler 318-360 v-8 heads! going back to model cloning, trying to take 1 platform and dress it up to charge more has come back to haunt gm! a cadillac isn't any better than a malibu, but they charge 3-4 times as much! truck lines send chevrolet and gmc trucks off the end with a different grille, and sticker price! most of this is due to farming out the design dept.s to outside sources, and trying to pass off foreign made cars as a popular name from the past! gto's and camaro's built in australia are not the same as an american plant making them! i hope that when gm is straightened out from the nightmare that roger b. smith started in the 80's, they start making cars that people want, not what they think mgt can push off on the public for the most profit they can stick in the ceo's package!!!!!!
if gm had made a retro gto instead of an aussie ripoff, i think pontiac would make it in today's world. it wouldn't be rocket science to take a g-8 platform, and put a '69 style front and rear end on it. with the cool hideaway headlights, judge striping, and things like hood scoops and tach. the drivelines are alot more peppy and reliable which in a retro body would sell as long as the price is affordable (start at low $20,000).
a good question to ask is when gm will build a diesel engine similar to vw, that will get 50+ mpg, have some giddy-up, and be affordable? i'm a gm retiree, and when i emailed pontiac last year to see if they'd put that style of engine in the new vibe, they said no plans to. our 2004 vibe is all wheel drive, and gets 30+ mpg, easy to get into, and is a great car for the money! this will be the type of car gm will discard in favor of the escalades and other $50,000+ vehicles that no one can afford! rick wagoner and the other morons will crash a 100 year old company into oblivion in 2-3 years with this mentality!!!!!
Will the U.S. Fight the German Car Invasion? [View article]
it's time that gm sells a car with fuel economy comparable to vw's diesels. they have the capabilities to do this, so why don't they? because they make about $30,000 more on each $50,000 truck and suv!!!! they can't seem to figure out that $600x100,000 vehicles can add up, too!!! reagan said "greed is good" and rick wagoner is definitely a reagan believer!!
