That Was the Year That Was

Past performance in a relatively stable environment can, indeed, be of value in guaging future performance. However, when there has been a near collapse of the global financial system amidst a widespread economic contraction, I'm not sure the immmediate past will offer much guidance as to what the next months have in store. There are precious few precedents for where we have been and where we are likely to go.
