  • Should a Scientist Run Your Drug Company? [View article]
What happened to the basic concept of being of service, and knowing what patients that have a particular illness need?
Pharma in general has been "creating" diseases so they can sell their drugs: Classic example is Gastro-esophageal reflux. My grandfather and likely yours would take bicarbonate, burp once and it was gone, Now we have NEXIUM and others...
A scientist at the top or an MBA at the top does not make a difference. The difference is first to be of service in integrity, tehn the money will come naturally. Money first and service second is a guaranteed formula for failure!

There are extraordinary opportunities in small companies that specialize in devices that shorten the time of healing of chronic wounds that have incredible applications in Diabetes (Diabetic Foot Ulcers) and these cut the overall cost by a factor of 40%.
Also devices that are implantable and measure continuously blood glucose are on the edge of appearing.
These companies are either too small or have not found the desire to go IPO in the current markets.
"Small" pharma and devices have great futures. They will not come to you, you have to find them! They are here! And some of then will take money with a realistic good ROI.

  • Wall Street Breakfast: Must-Know News [View article]
Let's see if the current administration has the integrity and courage to say no to AIG's bonuses, regardless of contractual agreements done before September 2008. The point is these people took AIG down, and bonuses are not due if my taxpayer Dollars are paying for poor performance. If we behave like toilets, these banks and companies will take a Sh*t on us over and over again.

  • Roche / Genentech: Lending Not So Frozen After All [View article]
Great news, imagine, Roche will eventually buy Ipsen, and the critical mass of genentech being able to design a better Dysport will have a serious impact in many areas. Allergan should be scared, although they have been so arrogant that they may miss the forest for the tree...

  • Merck Lets Its Gardasil Down  [View article]
Gee! The analysis that most 11-18 year-olds have been inoculated is such a fib! That would mean that about 30 million vaccines have been given in the US alone. Do the math. Once more, a large pharmaceutical company is simply lying.
Only the universe knows what other lies they have in their pipeline.

Developing good relationships with individual MD's is a great and logical strategy. In general Hospitals want relationships that are in writing and require a level of complexity that is thick.
If they have great sales reps they will do well, if their services are excellent.
Eventually they will be in a position to endorse DME and that is even better.

It is interesting to see that companies founded and funded on future performance, i.e.: future demands tend to be a prdicting game. Only fools invest in the future of an idea who's time has not come quite yet.

  • Johnson & Johnson Steals Mentor Corp.: Who's Next? [View article]
Wow! And everyone here is missing the soon-to-be in the USA Dysport(r) made by Ipsen in Europe, now licensed to Tercica. When Dysport(r) launches, Botox will have real cmopatition, no only in the cosmetic arena, but in the Neurosciences Division. Alllergan wil be in extreme distress. It sells Botox(r) for $600 and Dysport is likely to sell the equivalent bottle for under $400.
I wonder what David Pyott and his team are dreaming about after being so greedy... Sounds familiar? Ask the guys in the mortgage industry...
