This sector may face some risk too from crazies in congress who are talking about shortening patent protection on biologics, for example. The government continues to grow and wants to regulate and control all aspects of business and our lives. Any business that is deemed to be too successful, like pharma or oil, is going to be a target. The government instead loves failed businesses, like banks who overleverage to gamble and lose. Overall, the future is murky because of the irresponsibility of Americans and their tendency to elect the wrong kind of people. Nevertheless, companies like ABT, JNJ and PG have large international sales, and may be a way to play this game (although there are some rumblings in congress on how to increase taxes on companies that overseas sales). Another long shot is HGSI. Hopefully, one day, they will have a useful product. You could hit it big if they do.
