Central Banks Battle the Deflationary Spiral [View article]
I am holding some junior gold company stock and I wish gold would go to $3,000, but I don't see this happening. Mr. Sobolev's article on the history of gold stock since the depression shows that gold stock has been up and down like a yo-yo over the past 80 years. Gold itself after Nixon unhooked it from the dollar has also been up and down violently.
What about the price of gold from 1200 -1900, did it bounce up and down like a yo-yo when it was real money. I don't know, but I have a feeling that the violent ups and downs in gold stock and gold now are signs that gold's value is dying and we are witnessing its constant attempt to revive itself from the dead helped along by the myth makers. When you have semi-conductors and cell phones where is the magic in gold. We have lots of things that are better than the alchemy of old, no need to conjure some magical value in gold.
