I liked APP below 75 cents and it still could double again, although an equity wipeout still seems possible (but not probable). A go private price seemed too hard to predict until this week. Sure does appear like an easy 25-40%+ left on the table (yet with this name there seems to always be some curveballs). Congrats to those who got in yesterday or earlier. I might look again if it falls back toward 80 cents or so.

  • GoPro's CEO Is Stoked... But Selling [View article]
Does anyone know how many shares will be released in February?

Originally 100M+ shares were to come out next week but that number has changed since the Woodmans broke lock-up early and raised 800M (see below link).

I assume that anyone who took advantage of the early out has to hold their considerable remaining holdings into February at a minimum. Thus February could be more significant than next week. It will be interesting to see how the stock handles the ballooning of the float, although some of that is priced in by now.

    >>

    http://on.wsj.com/1z4y50c

""The move is designed to spread out the impact of nearly 108 million shares that could have hit the market on Dec. 22. That many shares would have raised GoPro’s current stock-market float more than eightfold. Large shareholders who participate in the offering will have to agree to a new 90-day lockup.""

  • What Media Really Will Mean For GoPro [View article]
    Das,

It's not a zero and likely will get a 2.5-3.5x multiple on revenues as long as they have a healthy bottom line. But yes, next years Xmas likely will be lackluster compared to this one if people are hoping for 30%+ growth again.

Companies tend to IPO with the wind at their back. Thus tough to see next year (after drone, China, and media sales all could disappoint) being a blowout year since the new models are already out there and camera changes will be more incremental rather than revolutionary. Also, all the free investor marketing from the ipo days will be long over.

    Joe,

Until you can show that revenue growth and margins are going to be well above 25%+ it doesn't matter that they are dabbling in software and content.

GoPro is not a social media company adding unique users at near triple digit rates. In fact some suggest organic growth (new customers/ non repeats) is closer to 10%-15%.

The market for "radical" footage only goes so far. I don't think people will use GoPro to lifelog. And if they do it won't be compelling to anyone but the creators.

You're a good writer and thinker, however I'm surprised you're putting your energy (and likely money) into a pseudo hardware stock that's trading at 5x revenues. GPRO is off by a 1/3rd since your first article and could fall another 33%. IPO valuations are normally not off by 200%-400%+ in a matter of months. As it head back toward a more reasonable IPO premium I'd be on the sidelines.

    Viper,

Leveraged ETF, especially bearshish ones, will head toward zero. But sizing matters and those who can play these safely in both direction have my high regards.

  • Best Long Idea For 2015: BNCCORP [View article]
    prbs,

Those who bought at $2, and those who bought more at .80, all will be happy (along with the 2014 investors) if they spent their time following Demuth and GCVRZ instead of sniping. Silly to ask someone to explain pre 2014 performance when the pick was stated as an "idea for 2014".

Not to mention this current article is about BNCC. Which I think one can likely buy lower from here but ultimately one should be long before 2015 is over; imho.

  • Best Long Idea For 2015: BNCCORP [View article]
    Steve,

Chris will surely miss on some picks. But to keep talking about GCVRZ which is a long term pick - it's too early to call. As for the pps drop in late Dec 2013, I'd think most here can understand how FDA rejection will hurt pps.

Instead you should focus on how it actually did come through in 2014 (as predicted) against considerable odds and may ultimately go above $1 and then $2 for those who are patient. In a few years you can look back and then assign a grade.
