    Lowell,

Do any of your strategies lend themselves well to margin (or even using leveraged etfs)?

If some strategies have double digit returns and low drawdowns in most/all the monte carlo simulations can we then expect that they would be a good candidate for leverage?

    Arthur,

Good point. It does seem the market is giving us the answer of where a secondary could trade. I'd suspect maybe even a 10-20% discount from these already clipped levels.

  • The Bruce Fund: A Great Long-Term Investment [View article]
It seems most of the outperformance is from 2003 to 2004. I'd suspect if you removed the Amerco purchase that this one likely lags a low cost index once you account for fees?

Not a bad fund per se, but was the Amerco purchase luck or skill? And do you think Mr. Bruce's son will be able to pull the Amerco type rabbits out of the hat going forward? The 10 year record so far says "no". http://tinyurl.com/nmb...

    Bradd,

Are you adding at these levels or do you suspect that the buying opportunity will get more lucrative in the short run?

  • Marketplace Interview: Chris DeMuth Jr. - Sifting The World Continues To Hit Home Runs [View article]
I can attest that StW is well worth it even for smaller accounts. Chris has many great ideas, similar to ASEI teased above. More often than not I've found double digit gains from piggybacking some of the countless stocks he comes up with.

Many will more than make their money back in just one or two of his ideas. I suspect even high 4 figure accounts could make the subscription worthwhile just by buying a basket of StW ideas. And the best part is most of these ideas play out over months and years so there is lots of actionable information in the archive, especially if one reads through his older free and premium content.

As a hint, his pick for 2015 linked in this article is off to a slow start. However those who just discover it now and hold for a year(s) should not worry - but rather should be happy that they've had a chance to add. Please feel free to PM me with any questions if you want more perspective beyond the few words I've typed. I could go on but I think just reading his free archive and instablogs from the 2012/2013 beginning will give you a good taste of what to expect.

  • PHK: Is It Time To Get Out While You Still Can? [View article]
Yes it's a game to see how many dividend checks one can get before either the divi is cut or price falls toward/ below nav all the while the divi % never break 20%. I suspect people think the music will play for a few more years - I'd not be willing to take that bet.

Nice call on WMB. I don't suspect we will see $55 again anytime soon.

  • Cigna Is A High-Conviction Long Opportunity [View article]
Chris I like this one for scale. However, I do think the downside is likely $120ish if the market decides no deal will happen (i.e. this one has shown 20% volatility periods, even in a bull market). Nonetheless, $200 pps seems much more likely than the downside scenario - unless the regulators decide to preemptively down talk this one.

    Chris,

As a long idea, even if one assumes Tencent is overvalued by 25%, would you think Naspers with its other holdings is worth enough to justify a purchase at current market cap?

Had JP never converted Maya nor participated as the alpha with 1000s of comments? Only major sinkhole Maya and his smart online crew ever got sucked into I'm told.

Chris would you buy more if it goes near/below $14? Nice to get some below where Laffer just bought in and Dondero seems like he loaded up near $14. I suspect this Summer will be profitable.
