    JP,

Have you mentally written off your large Axion investment in time and money? Or is EPower a way to still make it whole or is it a distinct journey at this point?

    Orb,

Is a great stock to average into. I've gotten plenty under $25 and expect some more as I slowly move in with low commissions.

I like the write the calls ideas and I have a small position in some miners to help capture any missed upside if gold was to ever spike beyond my writes.

  • Update: American Apparel Takeover Defenses [View article]
Long term current pps seems like a good buy. If this ever get back near 75 cents then I'd double down. But even today a dip below $1 brought in buyers. Some even think a poison-pill only ensures an even higher purchase for the patient. However, the impatient don't like that their quick 30%+ might be thwarted short term.

  • GoPro Is Likely Not A Wise Long-Term Purchase, Even At These Levels [View article]
The GoPro trend might have legs but trading at 6-8x revenues is a trend that is unlikely to continue. When GoPro is valued as company who will likely have margins under 20% in the near future and growth similar to that then it could be interesting. Otherwise its musical chairs between $50-$100 and it hard to tell who will have seats? In the long run I'd choose value over momentum.

  • GoPro Inc. Lockup Expiration: Will Sr. Woodman Unload His Stake? [View article]
GoPro strategically pushed back the bulk of its lockup until after the holiday numbers are well known. That is smart but I'd be wary of going long on Xmas blowout numbers since those are already assumed for the next few years in its current valuation.

It's getting tempting. Then again some houses in Detroit sell well below the cost of construction.

Anyhow, if valuations here approach new construction costs and the portfolio is largely renovated and/or modern then it could be worth it to squirrel it away and wait (months/years) for the economy/politics to stabilize.

75M shares coming loose in February. Coincidence they pushed lockup back into when they can report robust Xmas sales??

GoPro lockup expires Feb. 17th when 75M shares become available thus today's expiration likely is a non event.

Also GoPro will likely be timing good Xmas numbers to help offset that February lockup expiration.

    Chris,

I'd also imagine it is one of the ways you give back. And I suspect it brings you joy and maybe you enjoy the spirited debate (not trollish).

You've certainly helped a ton in my investor education and I hope to read you for years to come.

  • What Media Really Will Mean For GoPro [View article]
Agreed, it actually got near a 15B fully diluted cap which is nuts. It would take a "profit" average of near a Billion a year for the next 15 years to justify - assuming GoPro is obsolete by the end of 2030.

Yes it will do 70+ cents this quarter. But it will only do around 2x that for full year 2015 earnings since it is so seasonal and that report won't come out until two more Valentines days.

And with all the investment in RnD I'd think margins will compress too - thus it will take BIG sales (near 2B imho) to produce $1.20-1.40+ in earnings.

Imho, at some point in the next few years it won't be that enticing to investors when a Billion only nets 10% or less to the bottom line.

It is not a social media company (yet/ever ?) where gross and net margins are in the same ballpark. Imagine the downside if it got valued like other hardware companies?
