  • Fitch: Grim 2009 Outlook for U.S. Media and Entertainment Companies [View article]
I am sad to see that it will be harder for many to make money on the internet. Simultaneously, maybe it could cripple the copy-catters and novice sites from bloating the internet with useless content.

The dark side to the matter is that the huge media conglomerates still have an edge, since they could use the national-local dynamic better and more efficiently than smaller companies, and these giants are now creating their own advertising networks instead of passing them on to middle-men agencies.

Some of these companies will get hurt, but the common blog or site will probably be the hardest hit.

Absolutely wrong. The media isn't losing out because of its unbiased or biased views. The media also had other candidates for a lock in 2000 and 2004 and still had survived.

The main reason they are losing money is because the economy is dying, and there is simply no reason to deliver expensive messages to buy goods if there isn't any money around to buy goods.

The reporting has been skewed for years. If it took you an election two months ago to realize this, apparently you are paying attention.
