I really don't believe that the US economy will pick up so soon in 2009, With the fall in crude oil price, US might really be happy about it, but what of the other countries like Asia, Africa and Europe? Most of these countries' economies are tied around the oil price in the international markets, and a serious cut in the price of oil, means a lot of things to their own economies. Most of these oil producing countries fix their annual budget on the price of oil, and a continued fall in the prices will negatively affect their budgets and their economies.
Moreover, you can't expect the market to rebound over night after a long bear run. Definitely, the market will rebound, but it is going to be a gradual process.
