  • Another 'Typical' Tesla PR Stunt [View article]
This "stunt" is literally driving Tesla profitability. With zero advertising budget it is wise to instigate "earned" publicity.

  • Tesla's Pricing In China Is A Public Relations Win, But It May Not Guarantee Success [View article]
Interesting quote from today's China Car Times Newsletter:

"Tesla - How the American car company will overcome the ever growing list of obstacles in its way to success will be interesting, but at the same time Tesla could become the standard to watch for other dawdling Chinese EV manufacturers that promise a lot, but deliver little."

    Obstacles outlined in this commentary:

  • Tesla Continues To Divide And Conquer [View article]
All the people I've talked to about Tesla confess they'd like to own one.

"Few people want [electric cars] at the moment" because they can't yet afford a Tesla. As the price point descends, that will quickly change. The recent 3600 mile x-country trip averaged 378 Wh per mile in winter driving. Without the free super charger stations. that still equates to less than 4 cents a mile retail electrical cost. My Ford Fusion hybrid (45 mpg) fuel costs 8 cents a mile, and my SUV costs 18 cents. Not mention the electrical advantage of "filling up" at home every night.

I bought Tesla in the 20's. I could cash in now and buy the car, but I'll wait to buy two.

Mark Twain once said, "When everyone is looking for gold it's a good time to be in the pick and shovel business."
    Seems like good advice.

  • What To Do With Baidu's Stock [View article]
Why wasn't Qihoo (QIHU) included in the comparative chart of Financials of Chinese web companies? I sold Qihoo in January and bought Bidu. Qihoo is subsequently up 96% and Bidu just pasted 0--today up 11% from my entry. Trying to stay long, but not without question.

  • GM Just Curbed Tesla [View article]
It was a long way to the bottom of these comments.
    ". . . a stock decline to $69 to $86 range. . . . "
I got in around $23 and this is beautiful. I'd welcome a pull back to this range so I can buy more, just as I should have long ago.

  • Tesla's Valuation After A 12.7% Sales Decrease And Uncertain Internet Sales Model [View article]
Don't denigrate the Chinese market. Those who can afford a Model S (there are many) will not find the 20% luxury tax to be disincentive. Chinese understand and want the best. They pay the same tax on Mercedes, BMW and Porche. Tesla is an outstanding alternative and China is an important move for Tesla.

  • Time To Leave Tesla [View article]
As far as early adaptors drying up: From the comments we've seen in so many SA articles about Tesla the owners of Model S are probably Musk's most ardent sales force. No way to project a metric, but it seems likely that more of these vehicles on the road will stimulate greater demand. Dave_M got it right--as many more will. I'll hold on, and when it pulls back I'll buy more.

  • Could This One Thing Derail Tesla? [View article]
Noise cancellation technology is especially effective when tuned to a known sound frequency. Noise canceling head phones used by pilots block engine noises remarkably well. The Ford Fusion Hybrid uses this same technology inside the car to dampen the sound of the ICE engine. There is no reason to have to hear the warning noise maker inside the car at all. This simple solution can also be used to soften road noise at speed, making the ride ever more quiet.
