Gold: Stabilization Points to a Buying Opportunity [View article]
I have been living in a gold environment since 1973...when one had to know the geology of South Africa and mine life and depth..etc.
It is much harder, physiologically, to buy back in than it is to maintain a position. In short, I loose much more trying to time entry than staying in for the longer term. I sleep well at night, too.
Viet Nam, Malaysia, India, China, all buy gold jewelry in 24K form measured in Tael Weight. It is crude casting or stamped. There is no artistic premium and it sells near spot price, in or out. It is common to pinch or clip bits of the bracelet, bangle or ring and sell or trade with it....it is a 4,000 year old form of money in use today as always.
New York, London, Paris, Rome (western world): In contrast, no one is buying 18K, 14K, artistic gold creations at tremendous premiums, 10 times or more than spot.
And don't look now, but the Asian communities in USA and Europe are practicing that same gold business as mentioned above...go to an Asian shopping center and look in the jewelry stores or ask for Tael and you will be amazed at the display of artless 24K bangles made for chopping.
Sounds like you been huffing a litle of that Maui-Whowee, Steve-0.

Normally, in times such as these the peasants take up pitchforks and hoe handles to storm the Bastille; however, the peasants can't read or listen to anything other than ear-plug music and reality TV...oh well.
What will happen when cable is priced out of reach to the dirty masses, music and game software become to rich for the peons; will they attack with their super-sized drink cups in hand..... They will die in the streets of worse than rubber bullets, water canon sweeps and inconceivable ignorance.
Gold and Silver Continue Their Ascent [View article]
I live in Mexico; here coins are bought and sold at special counters in the department stores in every town (city or village). Mexico has a one ounce silver coin (Libertad) in circulation. Mexico has a long history with silver and it's coins were used in early American history until the civil war (2bit, 4bits,etc were pieces of 8 reales). Imagine, buying your silver coins at Walmart for a pittance over spot.
All I know is, I have been buying some silver whenever I can since the early seventies. I moved to Mexico a few years ago and continue to buy the Mexican Libertads which seem to always be available (buy or sell) in the Elektra Home stores. I like the feel of gold and silver...I remember as a child in the 40s and 50s the thrill of holding silver dollars, which were often given to kids by relatives, and then putting them in a secret place; I still have them. If the sh** hits the fan (and it will) I will buy a few beans and tortillas with the silver I have stashed. Ultimately, PM coins have nothing to do with inflation and deflation; they are money, pure and simple (read history).

I think, few people can actually remember the price they paid for items at the grocery store one year, two years, ....five years back, etc. That is, loaf of bread, pound of butter, box of oatmeal, rib eye, etc. I think these things are not included in the CPI. Inflation is rampant on main street. I don't put much creedence in the things people spout; I look at he grocery receipt and buy silver coin (and some gold shares). I buy and hold enough so that the increases in grocery and cost of living prices in general are covered by the increase in the Ag/Au price that I own. It works for me. It will work for you, too.
Also, I have moved to a third world country where the quality of daily life (and food) far exceeds that of my homeland.

buy, buy, buy....as Cramer would say.
I own SLW, PZG, and some wild cards. I feel real good when I look at my small hoard of silver eagles, and old 90% coins. I love the older silver content Mexican coins that one can buy with almost no premium in Mexican shops and markets(in Mexico).
