    The meaning of your chart is pretty clear to me--people from advanced industrial societies are no longer buying into the myth of gold as an alternate hedge form of currency and it's only selling well as a commodity in places where women aren't liberated, meaning that the gold jewelry trade (a vestige of marriage customs based on dowry) still thrives...
