I graduated college with a very useful degree (Psychology) and then went into a very over-rated industry (finance,) working for The Capital Group from 1991-1999. They were, until last year, the world's largest money manager, with well over $1T under management. Some of you might know their subsidiary, The American Funds Group. From there I went to Nationwide Insurance and then the annuity department of AIG, until 2004, when I left finance altogether. In 2005 I started all over at age 38 in the wine industry at $12.50/hour washing hoses and tanks, with no experience. Four years later I have my own label, and am assistant winemaker and general manager at a critically acclaimed winery in the Napa Valley.
