  • Seadrill sinks as Credit Suisse downgrades, cuts target to $30 from $40 [View news story]
Contracts to get the oil from the field are lengthy and aren't based on day to day fluctuations of price. Capital decisions aren't made on short term fundamentals.

Yep. Or, Brazil will likely be a net exporter of oil due to the salt fields...or Australia is opening up offshore fields for auction, etc etc. I see more positives than negatives and no indication of falling rates for Seadrill nor any indication of issues with securing contracts.

A few things to consider on SFL. The likelihood of cash sweeps from FRO and diversification with a few drilling units. We should see some better quarters ahead. Here's a good read on today's situation with SFL.

  • AIG: 'Double' From Here Debatable, But Good Upside Remains [View article]
Also, their stake in AerCap will likely be worth alot more here in the next few years. This isn't discussed very much. No mention of it in this article.

I'm sure we'll hear about the AerCap deal, buybacks and succession. AIG is still a no brainer imo.

Likewise, as progress continues, we should see it come to fruition over the next few years.

Yes, RIG is a good choice for Budavar. Although they've made mistakes too, such as forgetting to update their equipment when interest rates are at rock bottom levels. I dont know how one can invest in a company, yet have such disbelief about their methods of operating it.

Demand doesn't seem to be dropping. Day rates don't seem to be either. Seadrill's backlog and recent contracts are for 2 years or more in most cases.

Deepwater expenditure is expected to increase by 130%, compared to the preceding five-year period, totalling $260 billion (bn) from 2014 to 2018. As production from mature basins onshore and in shallow water declines, development of deepwater reserves has become increasingly vital. Robust oil prices support investment in deepwater developments - the sustained high oil prices over the past few years have increased confidence in the sector.

Great overview on the play. I'm hoping UPL and BBG could pair something together or acquire more acreage in the surrounding area.

Personally, I think SDRL is a strong buy below $36. The concerns blasted all over SA are just noise. For some reason, very few people want to listen to their management or do any diligence regarding their fleet status, backlog, new contracts or status of companies that Seadrill has a stake in. It is likely that more news is coming regarding increased cooperation and service in places like offshore Russia, Norway, Brazil, Argentina and Mexico.
