  • Defending eBay In A Big Way [View article]
@Seeker...I don't own an Ebay store so I can't confirm or deny what you are saying. However, from current members that do own a store, they claim that you can cancel the monthly subscription at anytime. Anyhow, I do believe that Ebay's earnings will be less than stellar just from the sellers that are leaving because of the latest announcement that currently went into affect May 5. I don't believe enough sellers will convert over to an Ebay store to cover the losses they will have from folks moving on to other platforms such as Amazon, ETSY, etc. I wish I was wrong but my gut feeling tells me that this quarter will be a lackluster for Ebay.

This is the perfect time to short Ebay stock ahead of their next earnings announcement. A lot of sellers are fleeing Ebay because of their announcement of not offering the free "buy it now" function. Sellers now have to pay .30 cents per listing to use the feature unless they have an Ebay store or spend the monthly subscription fee to on one. Earnings date is 16 July 2014 after the market closes. I expect the stock to take a hit the following day.

  • Pepsi: Mr. Market Is Offering You A Nice Entry Point [View article]
@JDoe...$78 is not a bad position but you can do better, and the word long-term is all relative depending on the individual. Slow and steady wins the race and what looks good today can look even better tomorrow. You claim that it will cost you a position yet the history of the stock itself as well as the overall market says you will get a huge discount at some point in time. Sure you are getting a good sale price right now but why settle for such a small discount when it will be on clearance at some point eventually. What is the rush?

I would start or add to a position when the stock price is at $75 or less.

I disagree that the current price is a good entry point. The time to think about adding or entering a position in this stock is when the dividend yield is closer to 3.5%. Be patient and wait for a better entry point.

kdog, every company at one point or another in this sector had to start somewhere and using moat as an investment decision for any stock is plain ridiculous.

Stocks like ENR are exactly the kind of companies I love in my portfolio. Most people look past it as just a company that sells batteries. See my profile.

  • The Dow Hits All-Time Highs, But The Truth Is It Remains Cheaply Valued [View article]
Since all the stocks I like are either fully valued or in-value I will stick with adding money to companies like COST, YUM, CVS, etc. since they are trading at higher multiples. If I'm going to risk money at higher valuations might as well go with higher growth companies.
