  • Long Term View of the Dow [View article]
These charts are quite impressive. They sure give us a good perspective of what true long term means. But we live in an instant gratification age. So, it's doubtful that many investors are going to have outlooks in terms of decades not years.

  • Can History Show Us the Way Out of This Bear Market? [View article]
It is pointless to look in the past for solutions for the current crisis. But the authorities seem to believe that we are at the beginning of Great Depression 2.0 and thus, all we need to do is print more money. In the long run this is supposed to correct the structural problem in the financial system.

  • Dow 3700, $3,500 Gold, $300 Oil - Enough Already [View article]
"By the way, did my title get you to click on this article? "

Yes, your title did get me to click on the article. And I enjoyed it a lot. The amount of silliness that is being thrown around in all media is simple amazing. Just like sex, doom and gloom sells. Hope their increased TV ratings or pageviews will translate into higher revenues. Otherwise it would be such a waste.

  • Bailouts Support Survival of the Weakest [View article]
Those endless bailouts are turning the US economy into a zombie economy. If the disease does not kill the market, the cure will surely finish the job.

  • Think Like the Herd - But Don't Follow the Herd [View article]
"so much of trading success is being able to think like the herd, but act counter to the herd."

And if you do that, you may run the risk of being overrun by the herd.

  • Beware of Market Performance Myths [View article]
"And they always assume you buy on day one, hold the entire period, and don't buy any more."

That is usually the silly reasoning that everybody makes when they say the buy and hold strategy does not work.

  • Wall Street's Response to Obama's Economic Policy [View article]
Wall Street and Washington don't like each other. That is a good thing. I would be worried if the reverse were true.

Stimulus only works in the minds of the people who are pushing for it. They usually have good self-interested motives.

One month and a few days late. Should have been published on New Year's Day. That would really depress the readers.

Bubble economies are addictive. I doubt people will accept this as a correction, not a recession.

Thanks for the post. So, you are from Cape Town. I guess, the further one is away from Wall Street, the more common sense one has.

  • Lesson from Sweden: Aggregator Bank Will Fail [View article]
Great post. The sooner we get rid of the dead banks, the sooner the economy will get back on track. This lack of decisive action will cost dearly to the economy at large.

  • Is Iceland the Canary in the U.S. Coal Mine? [View article]
The problem is that the US is trying to revive dead banks. The longer the financial mess continues, the more time it would take the economy to recover.

  • More Green Days for the Dow, Thanks to the Fed [View article]
The investors are being dragged kicking and screaming to the market thanks to the extremely low rates. Let's hope the real economy will follow.
