  • The Short-Term Noise In Linn Energy May Be A Buying Opportunity  [View article]
I unfortunately am not overpaid but have owned LINE for several years. It has never produced any taxable income for me. In fact were I to sell it I would have a carryforward loss that I could use to offset other taxable income which unfortunately I have little of. There is no reason for you to sell it and buy LNCO unless you want to move your position from your taxable accounts to your tax deferred ones.
Let me repeat-100% of the distributions I have received have been ROC and not currently taxable.

If you look at the prospectus they are electing to be treated as a corporation so there is no k-1 issue. I can't answer the first part of your post.

  • Natural Gas Storage Is Filling Up, PAA Natural Gas Storage Should Benefit  [View article]
Generally one of the advantages of owning an MLP is that a significant portion of the distribution is ROC and not currently taxable. Do have any idea what % of PNG's distributions are tax deferred?

Did the company say anything about the dividend? If it is not cut it seems like a reasonable buy at these levels but if they were to reduce the dividend the stock would take a big hit. Any insights would be appreciated.

Thank you for alerting me to these new ETFs. Do you have any idea of the components in either of the DAX indexes that they intend to track and their relative weight of each constituent company?

  • Eye on Alliance Resource Partners  [View article]
Alliance's GP is also public. I'd look at ahgp. The current yield is lower but the distribution will increase more than alliance's due to the structure of the mlp. If arlp does well ahgp has to do better.
