You just couldn't take your record player to the gym.
After the Walkman, you could record ANY song on to your mixtape
and listen to it ANYWHERE.

The ipod (and other inbetweeners) simply incrementally increased the convenience - smaller, better sound, no tapes to lose or break, more songs.

But honestly...does it really make THAT much of a difference
if you have your 40 favorite songs with you on a given day vs your favorite 4000?

Only for ipod salesman, I guess.]]>

Deutsche Bank: eBay May Be Facing A Worst Case Scenario http://seekingalpha.com/article/50580-deutsche-bank-ebay-may-be-facing-a-worst-case-scenario?source=feed#comment-99254 99254
Who EXACTLY is ebay losing market share to?

There is NO other auction place.

If people just decide to buy other than at auctions, they can adapt to that.

But, there is no other competition for ebay.

They've all been obliterated. At least in the US which is what this writer seems to be wringing his hands over.]]>

Whole Foods vs. The FTC, Part II http://seekingalpha.com/article/38835-whole-foods-vs-the-ftc-part-ii?source=feed#comment-89191 89191 I would however love it if Wild Oats opened up a similar to WFMI store in my neighborhood and provided
some stiff competition along with those dreadful price wars Mackey referred to in some of his other comments.

And, with WFMI hit on the flank by OATS maybe Kroger will open up a new chain (separate from it's flagship) that is exactly like these two but 20-30% cheaper.

Thankfully the FTC got involved so my dream can still come true.

Also, on the vendor side, having more than one place to see specialty organic products to a perfectly matched market prevents WFMI from being too tyrannical in terms of pricing etc]]>
