Am also long T, VZ and (to a lesser extent) CTL. Love those dividends. They beat bonds and many alternatives.

Agree with your assessment. I'm a long-term hold. Cut back on position late last year and bought AAPL below 490, and am I every pleased with that move. At least Apple has a dividend. I'm long and above water on remaining eBay position, but would be much happier with a dividend to show for holding.

Are you a medical doctor, as in M.D.? If not, to be clear, why not use your name, followed by PhD?

Am hanging on to my existing position for the dividend reinvestment, but am not buying more outright. Thanks for your report.

  • General Electric: Panoply Of Positives Loom For Dividend Investors [View article]
Yes, the investor has less control with Berkshire. Granted, Buffett's team does well for us, but my GE holdings are larger precisely because of yourpoint. I take GE dividends to invest in other opportunities.

No need to apologize for anything, Strike. I thought the half-assed response to your earlier comment was the mark of an amateur. Therefore I'm discounting much, if not all, material presented in original article.

Before reading the comments, what caught my eye as iffy at best was the recommendation to buy IBM on "dips below $176." Dream on.

Have long been long on GE (even through the 2008 crisis) and now am adding to position at every opportunity. Upside potential enormous and restoration of dividend to previous levels likely soon.

Altough I have Berkshire Baby B shares, I far prefer increasing my GE holdings.

Long IBM. This analysis is drier than dog-do. It's sad when comments are more insightful than the effort to convey info.

  • CenturyLink Offers A 6.27% Dividend Yield With Notable Upside To Boot [View article]
I'm encouraged by the Qwest fiber-optic rightaway along railtracks including those owned by the Florida East Coast Railroad.

A new company, All Aboard Florida, formed in 2012 and backed by the FEC , plans to inaugurate passenger service between Miami and Orlando in 2016, with stops in Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Cocoa. 32 (16 each way) trains a day seating up to 400 people, with shuttles connecting to airports, Port Everglades, and Port Miami.

As an enticement to biz riders, All Aboard Florida is promising blazing-fast Internet connections -- presumably via the Qwest asset.

Apple also just raised its dividend, and likely will continue to do so.
