    Note to Self:

    Is it possible that unending fluctuations in fuel cost coupled with overall declining global demand will disrupt the global production chain enough to spur more intensively localized production units?  Will the shock of the recent financial market destabilizations result in a reactionary pulse of manufacturers looking to shorten their production chains and localize transport?
