How Much Natural Gas Remains in the USA? [View article]
Why assume that unproven Nat gas will not be proven. 5 years ago most of shale gas was trapped and there was no way to recover it. In addition coal bed methane was also not considered a source of gas.
In new areas that are just now coming into financial reality such as animal waste and land fill recovery are not even being counted.
I also hold positions in both transportation of nat. gas as well as production.
High Dividend Stocks Generally Facing Massive Liquidation and Collapse [View article]
While many of the facts are true!! His conclusions are not based on reality. While hedge funds where liquidating in 2008 I was buying. In my opinion the infrastructure required as the oil reserves in new areas are being exploited will provide growth opportunities for MLP's. In the near future you will see more oil and gas supplies will be coming from domestic sources at the expense of OPEC and others.
Complying with tighter fracking regulations on federal lands will cost $253,839 per well, says EOG Resources (EOG), Wyoming and Utah, citing a study from John Dunham & Associates. That's well above the $11,833 that the Bureau of Land Management estimates, and would cost natural gas producers a total of $1.5B-$1.62B a year. [View news story]
Why Oil Is So High When The World Economy Is So Low [View article]
I that is a simplistic reply!! XL pipeline was killed by environmental groups as well as questions on the routing. I do not think their position will change regardless of what is done to satisfy their objections. This president has no regard for the security of this country I think he will follow previous administrations and continue to use American Troops and taxpayer money around the world to protect our oil supply from people who just don't like us.
Lithium-Ion Batteries and Electric Vehicles: Upgrading the Storm Watch to Storm Warning [View article]
While all this garbage of HEV debate and money dropped into a bottomless pit is fine for a debate issue. I think a fraction of this wasted money if it had been invested in establishing the infrastructure for the use of nat gas along with bio fuels we would have replaced a large amount of the imported fuel from around the world. Instead we we are spending a fortune on military and ideas that have been proven to be impractical at best. Maybe someday all your positive comments on nat gas will reach someone in power that is not driven by other special interests.
Why Oil Is So High When The World Economy Is So Low [View article]
Maybe you don't like oil from Canada but the facts are rather plain. The other source available for oil is from private land since the environmentalists and the government have made most public land almost impossible as a source for oil. While the oil and gas companies have been very successful using new methods in obtain oil that was not possible in the past it is not growing fast enough to replace all imported oil. In regards to replacing oil for transportation with natural gas this is a long term project which is moving forward at a snails pace due to resistance by several sources as well as not getting full support from the Federal Government.
Tesla's Obscenely Expensive Cure For Range Anxiety [View article]
I agree if people want to support Tesla they should buy one. However the government should not be in the business of supporting either Tesla or their customers. Further more they have never provided any proof other then they claim that electric cars will help global warming. The government should be providing the research as to ways to reduce the importing vast amounts of oil from countries that are bankrupting our country as well as costing loss of thousends of lives. There are many who support the use of natural gas resources that are available from North America
Lithium-Ion Batteries Were A Bust, But Advanced Lead-Acid Batteries Are Booming [View article]
I think you have done a great job of summarizing the state of the battery industry. You will never convince the solar, windmill and electric people that they are wrong. There's another way to look at the industry, the growth of these industries has created a market for fixed energy storage systems to stabilize the electric output as any unstable output of electricity will not work.
Electric Vehicles Are Still Not Ready For Prime Time [View article]
John it looks like you stepped into it again!! You are talking to people who think Tesla can do no wrong. I think Tesla may have a great idea I just think the people who want their car should pay the real price not go to Uncle Sam to help pay for it. As for Amazon he does not have prove anything. Latest victory, he brought Walmart to their knees with his latest marking plan. Buy his tablet and shop anywhere but send order to Amazon.
How About a Strategic Long-Term Energy Policy Now? [View article]
If you don't want coal or nat gas until something better comes along then I hope you like bicycles as we are very close right now to losing our major source from Mideast. The CIA and OB administration is nuts if they think can replace coal and oil overnight. Nat gas may only be a bridge product However its the lowest cost and cleanest fuel we can bring on line in less then 5 years. Had we started after 911 we would be sitting pretty right now.
Why Natural Gas Vehicles Won't Decrease Oil Dependence, Part VI [View article]
I think you need to review your comments on Clean Energy. Why it is true that are promoting the subsidy's avail to promote use of natural gas, it is also true that they have to compete with the government subsidies to promote wind power and and solar. Maybe you should look at the billions being spent to protect the sources of energy from unfriendly countries as well as the OPEC cartel. In my opinion Pickens is right on in trying to slow down the imports and use domestic sources of energy. This should include Nat gas ,nuclear as well wind and solar. If the Bloom box is successful this would be another way to provide distributed electricity to the market without increasing the construction of main power lines. One Bloom box would replace 500 solar panels made in China. The power would come from either natural or bio gas
In conclusion when you include the total cost to maintain a viable source of energy in this country natural as well as other forms of gas should be promoted not dismissed.
Wind And Solar Share Fatal Flaws: Politics And Variability Of Output [View article]
The problem with solar and wind is not cost it is the variability with output. In order to make a large scale system work you need a another source to instantly cut in to maintain output when solar or wind fails. Please let me know of one other then batteries which would be expensive.

Thermal Coal as U.S. Export Industry [View article]
I would like to add that KMP is completing a facility in Houston to export coal. I would think they do not make long range investments without a market.
In regards to Buffet I would not feel sorry for him in addition to coal to the West coast BSNF is adding capacity of unit trains to move 1 million Bls of oil while Washingington dithers over pipelines. The latest railcar stats show a 50 % increase of carloads of Petroleum. I cant wait for OB to brag about that
