I am a lawyer and assistant professor living in New York. My work focuses on the intersection of energy policy and the economic feasibility of energy pathways. From a financial perspective I cover a variety of energy companies ranging from renewable energy to fossil fuels. In addition to Seeking Alpha, my articles on renewable energy have been published by media sites including US News & World Report, Newsweek, The Huffington Post, and IFL Science.
While I discuss legal issues relating to these companies on occasion, my articles do not provide legal advice and nothing that I write on Seeking Alpha should be considered as such.

I am a highly trained professional equity analyst. My specialty is finding companies with excellent ratios of risk to reward. Before going independent, I was the head analyst at a boutique Israeli hedge fund. Today I am a consultant to several multibillion-dollar firms. I have covered many sectors, including technology, solar and semiconductors. I have learned to connect the dots and discern how forces in these various industries will affect individual companies. I am a big believer in analyzing investments from the top down. This means identifying themes and trends that can reveal where industries and individual companies will be in the future. There are no magic formulas for this process, just a lot of hard work. After I've found a company, analyzed it and concluded its value, then it is just like a poker game with endless cards. All we have to do is sit and wait for the next card to reveal itself and adjust our thesis accordingly. Once we find the true value of a company, we must ignore day-to-day market chaos. If we have done our research properly, we do not need to worry if the Dow goes up or down a particular day, week or month. Peter Lynch, Ben Graham and Phillip Fisher are my biggest influences. I encourage anyone who wishes to learn more about the market to read any of their books.
I am a former engineer in topography (ESGT Paris 80) and specialized later in metrology or very precise measurement (CERN). I was interested in quantum metrology for a while...
I live mostly between California (Santa Monica), Provence-Cote d'Azur (Where my children and grandchildren live) and Sweden (South West Skåne) with my loving wife.
I am managing (investment manager) a large and old private family fund and trade personally a medium-size portfolio for over 25 years
“Logic will get you from A to B. Imagination will take you everywhere.” Einstein.
I'm a CFA Charterholder and hold an MBA in Finance.
I spend a large amount of my free time analyzing and investing in energy companies of varying size. I'm currently covering oil and gas producers in the Permian Basin and the Eagle Ford. I try to provide quarterly coverage for several companies. I also look at oil and gas producers globally, in search of strong value plays. Anytime I find one, I write about it.
I will do my absolute best to provide quality research for you to consider in your investment decisions. However, I suggest you consult with your financial advisor prior to taking any action after reading an article, comment, private chat, or any other communication that I wrote. I urge you do your own research and draw your own conclusions prior to taking any action. My articles or comments are your starting point for your research. After you enter a trade, you are on your own to enter, exit, or take no action on the trade. I am not liable for actions you take after reading something that I wrote.
A qualified Chartered Certified Accountant and a lover of classical music, my other great passion in life is the trading of shares. Always on the look out for under the radar stocks with great potential, I tend to focus on biotech companies but consider all potential hidden gems.
I enjoy analyzing the financial health of companies and pointing out areas the market is either not recognizing or ignoring. A long time investor, I put my money where my mouth is. That's why I'm passionate about my positions. I trumpet companies I believe in and back my articles up with data and graphs.

I immigrated to the US in 2006. I started investing in India in 1999 just when the Indian markets were taking off. India had its share of Irrational Exuberance and eventually I lost quite a bit in Tech stocks from 1999 to 2002. After that I slowly moved on to cyclical (capital goods, manufacturing) and financial services stocks. I didn't have any money in the US earlier so started investing only in late 2007 - almost at the peak. And that too in REITs and finance stocks because they gave good dividend yields. We all know too well what happened to those stocks in 2008.
Now, I am trying to invest in other areas and build a steady stream of income and growth. I hold more than 50 stocks and more than 90% of my holdings are dividend growth stocks. Only couple are pure speculative and/or growth stocks or ones that stopped paying dividends.

I am a quantitative model designer. I build customized portfolio solutions for brokerages, family offices and individual clients around the world. Some of the models required the capacity to trade hundreds of millions of dollars.

Author of the critically acclaimed book, "Taking Charge With Value Investing (McGraw-Hill, 2013)" and the premium subscription service "Tipping The Scale" (as seen below). An analyst that ranks in the top 4% on both tipranks.com and Motley Fool CAPS for stock picking performance.
Tipping the Scale members gain access to the TTS Portfolio Tracker. Here, members see what I am buying and selling the minute it happens, along with what I have owned, bought, and sold historically. These are just a few of the features on the TTS Portfolio Tracker.
Tipping The Scale is an equity research platform that uses a numeric scale instead of the traditional "Buy, Hold, Sell" to identify the best investment opportunities in the market. Stock coverage is determined by market catalyst, and every company goes through a vigorous test in 10 different categories. The higher the total score, the bigger the upside. In addition, Tipping the Scale also provides a number of portfolio strategies to hedge the volatility of the market and protect from downside.
Check out my instablog for more information on the popular research service Tipping the Scale, including performance information, benefits, and how it all works.
