  • Ford's Unsettled Union Contract Leaves No Bears Behind On Its Financials [View article]
Remember the purpose of a union is to better the position of the workers. The company is to maximize profit. They will close a factory to save a few dollars per worker a year. Besides the average worker got over 8 thousand dollars a year in profit sharing. They could get less in profit sharing and more in wages. I am a union member and for profit sharing. Of course a company can hide profit.

  • WSJ: Surge in rail shipments of oil is causing delays for other industries [View news story]
If that is true which it is not. It costs more to replace a rail. That they delayed and it derailed on it. I remember when they used the money to buy an oil company. They laid people off to pay for it. The deferred maintenance cost more then if they would of finished planned maintenance. Deferred maintenance cost more to the shareholder. Just look at the derailment in North Dakota. The track used to be a grain route is low maintenance. The grain train derailed the oil train. That is deferred maintenance results

I am a railroader. The railroads really do not maintain the tracks very well overall. The Chicago to LA makes or made money. I personally worked on that track. One segment of it was and is. Had over 80 personnel working on it. It was not enough even with Mechanization. They reduced the maintence anyway. Just like one of the major routes they ship oil down. Three people to maintain over 100 miles of track.

  • Berkshire Hathaway's Pieces Are Worth More Than The Whole [View article]
Railroads as of income are not regulated. They can basically charge or refuse service. Only safety is somewhat regulated. As to investments in the company the BNSF has history in using the profit to buy non railroad companies. The economy had already improved when he bought it outright. The BNSF has always had capital though many times not invested in the railroad

  • Berkshire Hathaway's Pieces Are Worth More Than The Whole [View article]
A lot of value of a company can be hidden for tax purposes. For instance some of these tech companies. When the BNSF was bought by Berkshire. The profit went up greatly. Workers worked more to improve it. The reason Berkshire wants to show profit. Not like the Railroads that want to hide it.

The fish are a list. They have to save them by law apparently. Even if humans starve to death.

Part of the problem is that they saved the fish. A lot of water went to save the fish instead the farmers. California will not release any water for the farmers. Only for the fishThe Global Warming model says that California will have more rain not less.

  • Weight Of Crude Oil Explosions May Be Lifting From Berkshire [View article]
I own stock in Berkshire. I think Buffet is a crook. He says one thing and does another. He is granted billions of dollars in stocks. Then he will give it away. I think he is abusing his position.
