  • Ford to introduce four brand-new SUVs  [View news story]
Or as long as they do not loss money. Better market share means more buyers will buy step up models. That is what Toyota did at first in the US. My friend when they first came out and they were junk. People started buying them and upgrades followed

I agree with you Nasser really refused to develop new auto's. At least that problem is long gone. To compete they need a large range of vehicles

  • Berkshire's BNSF open to potential bid for Norfolk Southern, Rose says  [View news story]
That is what railroad companies do when they merge with competitors. Shredding lines that competed with them. They generally tear up these lines and refuse to sell them because they want no competition. Lines they do sell to the buying railroad. They control the interchanges so only the buying railroad can ship on the selling tracks and no others

  • BNSF to cut capex by $1.5B amid cargo slump  [View news story]
I worked on the BNSF. The BNSF was not the best company in the world. They spent money on maintenance all the time. Does not mean they did no hold hostage to some like AMTRAK. The UP would do very minor maintenance. But they would surge major maintenance for a few years. Then lay off most maintenance

Yes coal does lots of damage to tracks. I remember when coal trains did a lot of damage from Colorado to Newton, Kansas to the tracks. Finally when the UP got its track repaired. They stopped going down those tracks. Of course the damage was down and not repaired. Now they want the government to fix it for them through Colorado to Kansas

  • Canadian Pacific tells DoJ competitors trying to block Norfolk Southern deal  [View news story]
The BNSF was not allowed to merge with the CN. Which probably helped Berkshire buy the BNSF. Anyway if one Class 1 railroad should not be able to merge with another Canadian Railroad. Railroad mergers are bad for the economy anymore

  • Ford Investors Are Panicking For No Reason  [View article]
Poor decisions by GM paying out billions of extra dividends which they needed in 2008-2009. Chrysler who was bankrupt until recused by the government in the late 1970's. Merged then sold and then went bankrupt saved by the government and sold again. While Ford took some loans it did not go bankrupt. Ford's management is the better then GM. Now the foreign owned Chrysler its future is unknown. Passed around like a missed behaved foster child

  • Berkshire buys another 759K Phillips 66 shares  [View news story]
I have it because of a buyout of BNSF and had a worth of 76.09 before the merger. UP had a price of around 27.57 now with a 2 to 1 it is 74.81. Plus the UP was a better stock because it gave dividends. BERKB is only 128.36 and no dividends

  • What Do Ford's December Sales Reveal?  [View article]
Ford rewarded him with him with 17 million for moving Ford behind GM in profit. Just like Fiorina received 21 million for her HP poor service. Rewarding CEO's like Nasser is not intellegent

GM has more car lines then Ford. They had Nasser who hurt Ford terribly. One dealer complained that Nasser was hurting Ford by not coming out with new auto's models. To increase market share they need more models

  • Ford moves to mark-to-market pension reporting  [View news story]
Ford and other auto companies owed money to pensions. They estimated they would not have to put as much into their plans. Then when times were bad they did not have enough money. Hope they do not make that mistake again
