An anonymous contributor who would like to share some of his views. My choice for the pseudonym "Junius" has been inspired by the British political writer in the 18th century who wrote a series of letters promoting individual freedom and liberty; and whose identity has been a source of mystery ever since.
My background is in economics and I always look at how macroeconomic fundamentals affect a given company.
I have an interest in value growth stocks, and options trading. In particular, I enjoy looking at foreign stocks. Although I trade mainly stocks and stock derivatives, I do sometimes trade other financial instruments whenever I believe an opportunity arises.
Giverny - the color of money...and my old Landrover. Lifelong technology stock investor who has significant experience working with private and public technology companies in both executive and management consulting roles. Writing research is perhaps one of the best ways to make sure I understand the stocks I am investing in. I follow the blue chips to make sure I understand the sector dynamics and usually invest in small or mid caps, or just generally under-priced stocks, in order to profit.

At Valuentum, we think the best opportunities arise from a complete understanding of all investing disciplines in order to identify the most attractive stocks at any given time. Valuentum therefore analyzes each stock across a wide spectrum of philosophies, from deep value through momentum investing. We think companies that are attractive from a number of investment perspectives--whether it be growth, value, momentum, etc.--have the greatest probability of capital appreciation and relative outperformance. The more investors that are interested in the stock for reasons based on their respective investment mandates, the more likely it will move higher.

I only look at stocks that have the possibility to double over a twelve month period and stocks in which the risk/reward ratio payout is high. In addition I focus on swing trade opportunities.
I focus more on valuations and risk/reward metrics as opposed to what make companies tick.

I am a young investor focused primarily on dividend growth stocks. Seeking Alpha, and more specifically, the dividend and income community that exists here, has played a significant role in my development as a portfolio manager. I am not a professional, though I do manage my family's finances. I enjoy the process; the research, the decision making, the strategic planning...and not paying a financial adviser to do the work for me. I've built what I believe to be a conservative, diverse, and balanced dividend growth portfolio currently consisting of 48 positions. Thus far, I've been able to meet by goals from income, income growth, and capital appreciation standpoints. I use a wide variety of metrics, both fundamental and technical, when establishing fair value when doing my due diligence on an individual company. All of my methods are discussed in my work here. I hope this work inspires debate, conversation, and education - this is why I write for Seeking Alpha, to give back to the community that has helped me so much and to hopefully contribute, in some way...even if its by posing a question, to the growth of others.
Lastly, I began doing this in early 2015 and I plan on continuing to do so: I donate as much of the earnings that I get from SA on a monthly basis to various charities. Depending on how active I am writing each month, and what sort of side projects I have going on at the farm my wife and I recently purchased, the amount donated each month differs. However, I am pleased to be able to give back - I think its important to stay grounded and gracious when focusing so much on finances and these monthly donations help me not to lose sight of generosity.
*I should note that all articles that I write here are done so for my personal informational/educational purposes only. Any purchases that I make or opinions that I express are not meant as recommendations for anyone else. Please perform your own due diligence before following my lead into or out of a position. I am not a professional. I enjoy investing and the open discussion that articles on this site inspire - this is why I write, not to influence anyone else's decisions, but to enhance my own ability to make sound financial choices. That being said, I wish the best of luck to everyone. May we all meet our own financial goals.

My name is Todd Johnson. I’m a family man, sports fiend, health nut, technology buff, long-time stock investor, and a very lucky mountain climber, all of which has shaped my philosophy as a professional investor for the last 30 years. As my interests might suggest, I am always looking for the upside while striving to minimize risks.
My new passion, which I have realized through DividendLab.com project, is helping other investors learn more about investing; investing in stocks and other assets that are subject to wide price swings can actually enhance their returns when the right investment strategy is applied. To that end, I read company 10k and 10q statements so they can skip them. I compile and analyze the market research that isn’t always at their fingertips. And I don’t make any investment recommendation without committing my own funds first, which is the purest form of accountability.

Adam Levine-Weinberg is a graduate student by day, but also follows the stock market obsessively. He is an amateur investor always looking for good value stocks, and generally aims to profit from the market's irrationality.
Tony Abbate, CFA is founder and Managing Director of Granite Value Capital, a Hanover, NH based investment management firm. The firm has $80 million in assets under management. Tony received his BBA in Finance and Business Economics from University of Notre Dame in 1992. He received his Chartered Financial Analyst designation in 1997. Prior to starting Granite Value Capital, he worked for nine years as a Portfolio Manager in Fleet/Bank of America's Private Wealth Management division. Tony has thoroughly studied the teachings of the value investment philosophy set forth by Benjamin Graham during the 1930s and 1940s and expanded upon by Warren Buffett and other investors in the second half of the 20th century. In 2000 he completed a study of every publicly traded company with a minimum market capitalization of $25 million (over 5,000 companies) in the United States. From this study he created a universe of about 1,100 stocks that he continuously monitors. Tony's equity investment selection process focuses on minimizing three elements of risk: business risk, balance sheet/bankruptcy risk, valuation risk. Tony looks at stock ownership as owning an interest in a business. His goal is to own a portfolio of companies with return and risk characteristics that are superior to the broader market.
It is very hard or impossible to time the broad market consistently — there are no famous investors that got rich by consistently knowing what the broad market would do next. This only makes sense, as there are just too many variables in the broad market. But there are many famous investors who got rich analyzing individual securities, and this is where you should put your focus. You can get an edge in individual securities.
