I agree. The whole idea of a company using excess cash, or (especially) debt-financed cash, to buy back stock, is stupid. This was all done to juice up EPS, which probably helped the C-level executives collect as much bonus as possible. This short-term mentality is killing the middle-class investor, who has been brainwashed into investing their retirement savings in the market.
Got "excess" cash? How about a dividend? If the company truly has improved it's financial position, keep that resource for a rainy day.
Between our corporate and government leaders, who have shown no sign of leadership, let alone fiduciary responsibility, I can't wait until these guys die off.
