  • Intel Corporation declares $0.225 dividend [View news story]
Pretty sure they only need to increase by the end of the year for the streak to stay alive. I don't think it's realistic to expect an increase until the last payment of the year- Dec 1st. Keeps the streak alive of an overall "increase" to payment each year. There are ways to game the system. Still hard to be to angry with a 3.6% yield.

  • How To Invest Like A Level-Headed Survivalist [View article]
    Level-headed survivalist = oxymoron.

Furthermore, you think the stock market would be a functioning entity if things are as bad as this picture paints?

  • Latest blow to Paula Deen, who was dropped like a hot potato by various employers and sponsors throughout the week (I, II, III) comes from Random House. Until Friday, the one bright spot of the chef's week was the #1 spot on Amazon's (AMZN) best-seller list taken by pre-orders for her newest book, due in October. But Random House, the publisher, has now backed away from publishing the book and cancelled the rest of its contract with Deen. Sears, J.C. Penney, K-mart, Walmart and Target all had announced they would stop selling Deen-branded products, including books. Also yesterday Novo Nordisk (NVO) did finally drop her as a spokesperson.

It sure sucks when people are held accountable for their actions.

I live in Oregon (no sales tax).

And no, I do not cheat on my taxes if that's what you're asking. Do you?

I know, the nerve of asking a company to pay its owed taxes! A company whose success was in large part due to the protections of US IP and corporate laws. A company who lobbied itself a "tax holiday" due to extraordinary economic conditions under the implied assumption that those taxes would one day be paid and now is going to great lengths to avoid paying them. A company not in any sort of financial difficulty mind you but on the contrary has over a hundred billion in cash. Let the middle class eat cake!

  • Wells Fargo: Compounding At Double Digits [View article]
To further add, winning bets always look good until they lose. JPM was perfectly happy to be winning at the table until it lost. Wells may be well positioned in its hedges but who knows? Probably have a better chance hand delivering a nuke to N. Korea than ever finding out under current reporting standards.

Phr3d- obviously I'm not all that down on Wells as I still have a long position in them. Just trying to comment more to the fact that an overall lack of transparency in the industry is hurting everyone good and bad alike. A free market system only works efficiently with transparency.

I think this article explains a lot of why many are still leery of the bank and industry:

Until we know what's really going on in the back room how can we be sure? Still the same Vegas style shenanigans that many are afraid of?

    -Long WFC but watching closely.

  • AbbVie Begins Trading On The NYSE And Should Prove Valuable In The New Year [View article]
No problem, was a bit hard to track down the info but was concerned about the go-forward dividend as an owner myself. Glad to see the net increase if you take both companies combined dividend. Not sure what to think about ABBV yet since it is so Humira dependent but willing to give it a shot for the time being.
