Hospital Stocks Down on Rumored Medicare Cuts [View article]
It will be interesting to see if the doctor partnership issue will be addressed. It is in the 1000 page bill which has yet to be changed(despite the talk from BHO). If it stays in it will be an issue for those providers in that camp. Medcath is exposed here as most of their operations have significant physician ownership. Being the general partner they will have to buy out their partners per their operating agreements. Obviously, this will be a cash drain for them
Jim is the guy everyone wants to critize....what nonsense !!!!! If everyone else was as good as him I suppose they would be as rich as him !!!!!!!! Oppps, they aren't...go figure..........

jarco, where did you get the 85%paid for covered costs? Do you know what covered costs are? Have you looked at medicare payment schedules? You need to do some reasearch.

One other comment, what are we going to do when we no longer have doctors worth having. Let's see, I could go to 4 years of undergrad school, 4 years of medical school(incredble hard) and 3 years of residency(possibly longer) and then get paid a nominal amount to use to try and payoff my 200k loan l had to take out to go to med school. We will no longer get the best and brightest. When that happens we are all in for a bad time

The author is completly in the dark re healthcare reform. The problem is everyone wants healthcare but no one wants to pay for it, NO ONE, if all paid hospitals would not have to charge "outrageous" prices to those that can pay to cover those that can't. And why should all get the same level of care? Those that can't pay automatically get the same as those that can...why? It is not like that in the rest of our culture, why should it be here. We all don't get to drive the most expensive car, eat in the most expensive restaurants.
The article is so full of holes it is clear the author does not have a clear understanding of the whole system. As presented to us, the gov system will be a disaster for those that currently have coverage and ok for those that don't. However, don't be fooled into thinking you will get the same level of care that is available now. And don't be fooled into thinking we do not have the best care in the world now. WE DO, but WE WON"T if this gets passed. Once again productive members of our country will wind up paying for those that aren't.
I would suggest that those on the gov system get treated in a gov hospital with gov docs or pay the price themselves to get treated in the "private" sector facilities.

Gee, if I am really sick, i go to the er, and you know what? no turn aways are allowed. I get treated and those that have coverage pay inflated prices to cover the cost of my care. SO what happens.... those that take care of themselves get the shaft again, the system has to try to cover the cost, and those that are without coverage get cared for. This is not a healthcare problem, it is a socal problem caused by poverty and/or irrespondsible behavior

I don't know where you live, but I can tell you where I am nobody is calm. We are watching our country go down the drain faster than it was before the BHO train came in the station
Hospital Index's Decline Suggests Obamacare Plan Is in Question [View article]
This is a slippery slope, one that BHO does not understand, or does not care what the outcome is. Every country in the G20 that has nationalized health care has worse outcomes than the US. Cut doctor fees 20% and do you think we will get the best and brightest to go into medicine? I think not. Do not be fooled by the comparison to the Canadian system, their outcomes do not compare to the US. We need to change the system, but exactly what does that mean? Those that have coverage and can afford it get penalized to help those that can't take care of themselves, or chose not to??

No my friend, my opinion i sbased on 30 years making my livivng in the health care field. I find your comments to be reather amusing and less than informed. As a point, should you see someone smoking a cigarette there is a 90% probability that they did not graduate from college. How much time have you spent in an ER watching what has been happening . I guess not much

We have bought into the lie that we have a healthcare crisis in this country. We don't. We have a poverty crisis that will cause BHO to destroy the entire system at our expense to provide for those that choose not to provide for themselves. We have have the best health care system in the world in the U.S., however if we continue down the Obama path, we will all suffer.

Interesting points. I also am investing in similar positions, however for much different reasons. I disagree with Leeb in that I think history always repeats itself. As we have all often heard, whenever someone tells you it is different this time, remember, it is never different. Fear and greed are the one constant that are always present.
Restrictions, Bans on Doctor-Owned Facilities to Benefit Chains [View article]
All providers, be they for profit or non-profit have deals with doctors. You are better to discribe the providers as tax payers and non-tax payers. Over the years the successful non profits operate very similarly to the for profits. As the feds continue to cut doctor reimbursement the docs will look for ways to make money. The problem is the government and their rediculas reimbursement schemes, not the hospitals and not the doctors
