Conan the Barbarian » Profile

Born 1944, B of S in Mathematics, Minors in Physics, History. Worked in Insurance industry for 15 years, Underwriting at first then Actuarial/statistical. Married into an Accounting/Investment family where I learned about Fundamental investing(previous exposure had been Charting only), in 1974. Still married to the same beautiful woman.

Went from Insurance industry to Investment Counseling. Passed my Series 7 independantly and went into the Brokerage Biz. At first from home, then at several firms before starting a Brokerage Branch of my own. After 7+ years, several anxiety attacks and subsequent Emergency Room visits, I retired. I had a problem. I couldn't remove myself emotionally from the Clients who lost money because of Recommendations which went Sour. If you want to last in this Biz, you have to expect losses for your clientele. And No Matter what you say, your clients have a tendency to "fall in love" with their stocks. No Profit taking, no Stop Loss- Since they made the Final Decision to buy XYZ, they can't be wrong.

Have been investing for ourselves ever since. My wife is still working, her 401K is entirely in Cash, has been since 2006. Contribution is still 50%., she will retire when she wants to or is let go. Either way, income will not be a problem since we are virtually debt free currently.
