Tin Lizzy is a semi-retired investor. She keeps life interesting by running a small business as an academic editor for a small group of research scientists. She has a BSc., MSc. and PhD. in Geology. She has expertise in igneous petrology, experimental mineralogy, isotope chemistry and geochronology, and has put these skills to work in academia, government and industry. Her pen name for SA is a nickname given to her by a former boss when she was a tin explorationist for an international mining company, a great job that sadly disappeared when the international tin cartel collapsed. She also enjoyed a second-career in Business IT, working as a programmer and business analyst. TL has a deep, longstanding interest in education. This interest began almost as soon as the first of her 3 children entered school, whereupon she got an uncomfortable feeling that so many 'best practices' in modern education were really bad ideas. None of her subsequent research has reassured her.
Novice investor just getting started like the idea of owning gold but find silver more affordable and a better use for bartering. Looking to move 457 contributions to a investment vehicle that will keep up with hyper-inflation. Not sure of timetables but feel the sooner the better. Looking for ways to keep uncle sugar from taxing our hard earned cash that has taken over 30 years to accumulate. Need some help in determining which way is best? thanks
