  • Galena Pharma: High Hopes For The Shares [View article]
    @petethepanzer

    There are conflicting numbers about just how many women could be treated with NeuVax. I couldn't even find stats that stratify breast cancer based on IHC (perhaps I'm a bad researcher), but the American Cancer Society claims that 15-30% of all breast cancers overexpress HER2. If that is true, then Mark Ahn's number is on the low side, however its really hard to know without having accurate stratification numbers.

    Anyone have those?

    "...the 60-month Landmark Analysis demonstrated a 5.6% recurrence rate with NeuVax vs. a 25.9% recurrence rate in the control arm, a recurrence reduction of 78.4%."

    I don't understand where the 78.4% is from, unless you are taking percents of percents. Hate to be a stickler for math, but this is a cardinal sin of percentage reporting.

    If sorafenib is really as bad as shmori says it is, then what caused its global "blockbuster" status? The fact that it was ONLY perscribed for liver cancer patients and not kidney patients?

    In any case, the comparison of a new drug to a popular drug with similar MOA seems reasonable to me...

    ..they do have similar MOA, right?

    I was not referring to Tivo, but AV-203, which is still only in Phase I and will only be second to market in class. Though, I do agree that AV-203 is more for long term speculation, the future for that drug looks challenging.

    By the way, how did you arrive at your target range of $11-11.5 upon postive AdComm?

    Don't you think Sanofi's SAR256212 anti-ErbB3 mAB has a headstart in the clinic? Its already in Phase II for patients with HER2- breast cancer. They also have two addtional combinatorial studies, both in Phase II: with erlotinib for NSCLC, and with exemestane for ER/PR+ HER2- breast cancer.

    Aveo just recently started Phase I studies on AV-203 (their anti-ErbB3 mAB) in May 2012, correct? Mustn't AV-203 then be more than just incrementally better than its earlier-to-market competitor drug to outpace Sanofi in the ErbB3 space? This is assuming both are approved, of course.

    Is JNK really a viable alternative to equity exposure in a post-QE slide? The payout doesn't seem to justify the risk while rates remain low. What about precious metals (GLD, IAU, physical, etc) instead?

    Your science is wrong in your description of THLD: tumors cause localized hypoxia, hypoxia doesn't cause tumors.

    Regardless, MNKD has a truly novel technology and the biggest value prop of these companies mentioned above. The Afrezza modality alone has huge potential for multidrug delivery.
