  • John Chen's First Mistake [View article]
Totally agree... and somehow they should also support concurrent access from multiple and various devices (computers) via the BBid.

tbh, I think it's in development because I recall many convo's about this topic while I was an employee of RIM... and the technical challenges might be taking longer than expected - at least I hope that's the reason for the delay.

  • BlackBerry: Here We Go Again [View article]
interesting how you can be swayed by pop culture...

Do you think the Cable show "The Newsroom" would be as credible if they were toting iphones?

BlackBerry is just a victim of mass media bullying and can be overcome with time to allow the bully to trip over their own propaganda... just saying!

  • BlackBerry Browsers Grows 21% In The UK At Apple's Expense, Soon To Overtake Samsung [View article]
Browser on pre-BB10 was tolerable, but only if you had never experienced better... Now, I don't think I could back - I think the momentum will continue, the new mobile computing term will definitely become synonymous with BlackBerry10 just Mobile email had... (imo)

  • Why Blackberry's 3 Million Subscriber Loss May Actually Be Good News [View article]
I think A factor on the subscriber number is a change in how they calculate the total... so 3m less may just be a result of this new formula - and really doesn’t mean a loss per say

  • BlackBerry Vs. Apple: Which Is A Winning Bet For 2013? [View article]
To say 'why would anyone buy a device other than' might be the beginning of the end for a company...

Today, there are more reasons not to buy an i product as the stale réincarnation of the passe modal interface is being challenged by new and fresh interpretations of a human interface. Apple is a behemoth of a company, but that just mean it will make a greater divett when it falls.

Apple fatigue will be much worse than the Microsoft fatigue... because there really is no alternative for Windows which is viable as a computer os today - even apple runs windows... and it has to in order to keep its miniscule market.
The mobile space is a different animal - there is no definitive killer Operating system... the apps on both IOS and android are for the most part fluff for your phone - making voice calls, email and text are thé killer apps and every phone can do those just fine.

The dominance of IOS is just a passing fad, i do see them keeping more than a 10-15% market share in the long run (3-5yrs)... most 'apps' will be rendered on html5 and wont be agnostic to platform.

Long term value in the mobile space will be driven by m2m os and BlackBerry was very insightful in it qnx purchase... killer micro kernel with incredible reliability, scalability and security potential are sure to bring BlackBerry into the forefront of the new post app era, please stand by!

I'm long on $bbry, and I see $aapl as a great share to own for a few more years... then poof - dropping it like it's hot!

  • BBRY Has A Couple More Aces In The Hole [View article]
Anyone know how long my comments will be 'moderated' on Seeking Alpha, i promise to not imply personal attack going forward and apologies to anyone offended in thé past.

I will not be following the discussions on Seeking Alpha if I cannot get timely comment submission...

    I have inside knowledge in many aspects of BlackBerry - i will not be able to provide specifics, but I can confirm a couple very important and exciting areas BlackBerry is focusing on;

    - mdm, many comments prior mentioned this area... and this should be revealed this year
    - gaming, reports have demonstrated BlackBerry's 'playing' in this area... stay tuned for some killer technology which will be... very cool indeed
    - security, imagine BlackBerry security offering double and more in this area... with an actual customer
    - devices, it's been rumored extensively... not just tabs and handhelds
    - qxn, they techs from that company will be the new BlackBerry... unfortunate for some at BlackBerry but wonderful for thé company

    - want more, BlackBerry is not sitting back and was never really sitting back... they had the first killer mobile os, and just like dos... had to build the next mobile os from the ground up- ms did it incrementally... BlackBerry did it with a rewrite

I wish BlackBerry was privately owned, the Vegas trading circle is a horrible handcuff distraction to innovation.

G'luck and I wish you well!

  • BlackBerry (BBRY +3.8%) is off its premarket highs, but still up following mixed FQ4 results. BB10 shipments were roughly in-line with consensus. Total BlackBerry shipments -13% Q/Q and -23% Y/Y (they fell 7% Q/Q and 51% Y/Y in FQ3), and the BlackBerry sub base fell by 3M Q/Q to 76M. However, gross margin rose 970 bps Q/Q and 660 bps Y/Y to 40.1%, fueling the EPS beat. Opex +3% Q/Q and -8% Y/Y (exc. last year's goodwill charge) vs. a 36% revenue drop. Cash balance unchanged Q/Q at $2.9B. A 50% Q/Q increase in marketing spend is forecast, but BlackBerry still expects FQ1 results to be near breakeven, above a -$0.12 EPS consensus. [View news story]

  • The Suppliers Behind The BlackBerry Z10 [View article]
Funny how many people talk specs like it's a quantitative comparison item… There are several 4 cylinder vehicles I prefer to many many many 8 cylinder vehicles!

let's face it, the cell phone (mobile device) has mostly evolved to a reflection of personal style... I remember when clam shells and cute tiny Nokia's were all the rage in Europe a bunch of years ago - people would have lanyards around their wrists and necklaces adorned with the cute little phones. People didn’t much care about which phone they had, it was more about how they looked wearing them and it reflected their fashion tasts/style.

Things haven’t really changed, people now look at the brand to draw conclusion about the individual based on their mobile phone choice – kinda sad but the reality is often much less exciting than the hype and propaganda pressure etc.

I’m starting to see a lot less proud iPhone users around… seems being different by being the same isn’t really in vogue after all.

    Love to love BB!

  • BlackBerry Earnings: All Eyes On Subscriber Growth [View article]
I'd like to think there is a tipping point in the wave of bear sentiments with $BBRY, for many years the down spin has been based on future sentiments for the company which had not joined the party with the correct dressing styles (web, apps, touch, etc...) dictated by the voluminous new consumer market which had been uncovered by $aapl's iphone.

Although emotion is difficult to set aside entirely, at some point the massive install base of $bbry (if not shrinking) should indicate the stock has been oversold and although sales are dwarfed by the other two players... potential growth in sales is massive.

BlackBerry hasn't just started making phones, they know the importance of the various aspects of this space like compression, encryption, battery, and other technical elements - the BB10 platform has been given positive salutes from customers, analysts, technical folk and most importantly the competition. They have an interesting yet underplayed opportunity to shock the current mobile landscape.

How long will future prospects for this company's very unique products and services be viewed from a glass half empty mindset?

I believe this quarter will add just the right number of drops of positive signals to tip the perspectives to a glass half full outlook and initiate the stocks optimistic future outlook.
