Book sales are on the decline. They are moving slowly toward digital as music has. Cutting costs with lower comp store sales is NEVER a success formula in retailing. Look to Sears are a recent example. Barns & Noble is a ten thousand pound gorilla who has the dominant position in the market. Borders is in a death spiral.
