  • Duke Energy plans Florida solar push [View news story]
They haven't said no often enough.

Here's a report contains enough facts to dispel any notion that carbon based energy forms are going anywhere, anytime soon.

  • Futures slip following jobs miss; 10-year yield falls to 1.84% [View news story]
Durable Goods orders have been down for 6 straight months. Retail Sales down 3 straight months. This horrendous number goes well beyond anything weather related.

SoCalNative, I must say that I am always shocked by your obvious conservative comments (I'm on your side), given your obvious location.

I would guess that you don't exactly 'blend' at social functions in Southern California. Must be a rough ride.

"+12% swing in gdp one year after stimulus"

What country did that happen in? I only follow the US economy but am curious.

Although I find the numbers far worse than I expected, a serious decline in employments stats should have been expected. With Durable Goods and Factory orders down for 6 straight months as well as other indicators that showed contraction, a decline in employment numbers should have been expected.

I would guess they are worth somewhere between $18.6M and $22M to you.

needle, here’s a clip of Cuomo bragging about forcing banks to make home loans to people who didn’t have jobs, money, or credit. http://bit.ly/1BGpFgl

Here is a clip of Frank denying there was a bubble in the housing market saying “there is an excessive degree of concern” - http://bit.ly/1zHUnKT

Here’s another clip with Republicans seeking to rein in the mess (this is prior to the implosion) with Fannie & Freddie. The posture Democrats took during this hearing is hilarious; they could not have been more wrong. http://bit.ly/1BGpHVg

And regarding your ‘investment’ advice, thanks but I’ll pass. I look for opportunities in anything and everything including a change in the political direction of the US.

geezer, which President repealed Glass-Steagall permitting the banks to gamble? Which party forced banks into making Liar Loans? Democrats own the Great recession, but all you’ll hear is ‘Bush’s fault’.

I’m hoping for another shut down, with this one lasting until January of 2017.

Mindless austerity? Are you aware Obama has racked added $7.5 trillion in the last 6 years under these austere measures? The Fed’s ‘aggressive monetary policy’ bailed out the TBTF’s while Mom and Pop are choking under the mountain of debt, new taxes, and new government regulations.

The US is dead; we’re just too stupid to fall over.

  • Another beat for payrolls, UE rate down to 5.5% [View news story]
When you say ‘Obama's domestic agenda’ I’ll have to assume you are referring to the massive run-up in our National Debt. I ran the math quite a few months ago and at that time, the US would have to add 250,000 jobs a month on average just to cover the interest only payment on the new debt Obama is adding monthly. As interest rates rise, the number of new taxpayers will need to increase as well.

The US is dead, we’re just too stupid to fall over.

  • Still no agreement in U.S. refinery strike talks [View news story]
Got it; a Liberal does several minutes of research on the internet and knows more than someone who was there.

There was a strike at a Barnes & Tucker mine over no soap in the showers; I was there.

jcully, I’m sure I no longer have pay stubs from that era but that is precisely who I worked for. And for the other person spouting off on here, that’s how I was putting myself through college, it was a short gig and therefore, no black lung.

B&T sold some of their mines off but if I remember correctly it was not all at once and not all to the same company. There may have been an office in Ebensburg, but no mine. You’re reading something out of a book; I lived in the area at that time.

You seem to be doing hours of ‘research’ to discredit a story that verifies that unions are stupid organizations. You would have made a great union official, just the type they need to call a strike over a few bars of soap.
