The only ‘weirdness’ I can see is someone owning up to their own errors. How un-American (these days at least) of SA!!

Glad to see it back up and running.

  • NYT: NSA used backdoor into Huawei equipment for spying [View news story]
The US Government is the rat here. One of the reasons the US became the wealthiest and most powerful nation in the planet was because of the individual freedoms that used to be guaranteed by the Constitution. When the government begins to take away our freedom, they undermine the strength of our country as well.

If the domestic threat is so great that the government feels they need to stoop to such measures, might I suggest enforcing our existing immigration laws? Our southern ‘border’ is a joke right now.

Sure Jake, it worked out really well for the Hostess employees as well as most of the people living in the rubble of Detroit. The UAW bankrupted GM and US taxpayers just lost $12 billion on that 'deal'.

  • Plan C. Acknowledging there is no time to craft a "grand bargain" before year end, the President urges Congress to pass a stopgap measure, saying he'll immediately sign a bill allowing unemployment benefits to continue and preventing tax hikes on those with income under $250K/year. [View news story]
The US Government has spent more than $15 trillion USD since 1960 on the ‘War on Poverty’ yet poverty in this country is worse now than it was in 1960. When we simply provide food for the hungry as you say, are we also doing anything to make these people self-sufficient or are we just creating a society of people that feel they are entitled to something? Helping people get on their feet is the right thing to do in our country, but the system is being horribly abused.

  • Chances of shutdown increase as House OKs anti-Obamacare measures [View news story]
Gosho, Obamacare has the potential to bring the US economy to its knees and the action by the House of Representatives is about as close as I’ve ever seen these clowns get to doing their jobs and representing the will of the people. The majority of Americans (including a lot of Democrats) do not want Obamacare in its present form. The Federal Government exists to serve its citizens, not investors.

To answer your question (Is there anything positive about this country?) probably the only positive thing I could say about the US is that we’re not dead yet.

I bought into BAC in January of 2012 at an average share price of $5.37. If you consider the sharks circling around BAC, I think Moynihan has done a good job of guiding BAC over the last few years.

One of the best rules I learned when I first began investing was to NEVER become emotionally attached to a particular stock. Know what I mean?

    That was rhetorical; don’t answer.

  • White House not satisfied with GOP debt ceiling offer [View news story]
Michael, Obama has made the comment that ‘no one gets everything they want’ yet he wants to get everything he wants. There has been zero compromise on his part.

The nation is a powder keg right now and I’m surprised there hasn’t been any violence. I am outraged that the Federal Government is spending money to kick Americans off property they own. Our National Parks, Monuments, etc., are owned by US citizens; they are NOT owned by the US government. King Barry believes otherwise though. He’s playing a very dangerous game.

Tomlos, you are correct about the sequester contributing to the reduction in deficit spending. Obama and Reid were screaming the sky would fall yet the sequester has done more to help our economy than anything else Obama has done during his time in office.
