  • Clearwire (CLWR) receives yet another alternative financing proposal from a money manager. Hedge fund Aurelius Capital is offering Clearwire $80M in convertible debt financing as a replacement for the funds it's receiving from Sprint (S). Last week, Crest Financial offered Clearwire $240M in convertible debt financing. Though taking Sprint's money and still officially supporting its $2.97/share buyout offer, Clearwire still hasn't made a final decision on Dish Network's $3.30/share bid. [View news story]

  • Clearwire (CLWR) execs have strong personal incentives to support Sprint's (S) $2.97/share buyout offer, the Puget Sound Business Journal observes. CEO Erik Prusch will receive nearly a $7M payout if/when the deal closes, CTO John Saw will receive over $2M, and CFO Hope Cochran nearly $1.8M. Other execs are set to receive over $1M, and Clearwire board members (some of whom are reviewing Dish Network's $3.30/share offer) $160K apiece. [View news story]
I'm in at $3.21, for over two years now. I don't know what to do, or how either deal will effect me. I would think, that $2.97 is low, and I would also think that if 4G has any value in the market, that people would be diving after it like a fumbled football.

  • What Happens In Wal-Mart Doesn't Only Stay In Wal-Mart [View article]
In my area, Dollar General (DG) is heading off a lot of traffic to Wal-Mart and what Dollar General(DG) doesn't grab, Fred's or Family Dollar does. Besides that, gas is expensive, so why drive the additional miles when a smaller version is right around the corner. The lower income people, those who typically spend their expendable dollars at Wal-Mart, are feeling the bite of higher prices at either the gas pumps, corn products, milk products, etc. etc. etc. There is certainly going to be an "adjustment" soon, but it won't be one everyone will like.

  • The latest batch of numbers on car demand in Europe is out from the European Automobile Manufacturers' Association with 2013 starting off with demand just as soft as last year. Registrations dropped 8.5% to 918,280 with Ford (F), Peugeot (PEUGF.PK), and Toyota (TM) posting sharp declines. Though sales are forecast to pick up in some areas of Europe this year, most automakers see the market shrinking between 3% to 5%. [View news story]

Our 'war on poverty" has been a disaster. We deserve everything we get. We elect the same people to do the same thing to us and can't figure out why we're in the shape we are. EVERYONE should pay taxes; Rich and Poor. We should chop the hands off politicians who reach for money for stupid things
