  • Apple tops $100 following bullish Morgan Stanley note [View news story]
There are hundreds of millions of iphone users. They bought the iphone even though there are cheaper alternatives. These are the loyal apple customers we hear about. The ones who continually buy apple products and can't wait for the launch of their next product. iPad sold more in first year than iphone. It is possible that an iwatch (if it proves to be great functionality) can outsell the iphone and iPad in its first year. Remember that apple has gained more and more customers since they came out with the phone. These are the new loyal apple customers and I can see them and the old fan boys grabbing up an iwatch. 60 million is a lot, but the potential is there. Even if they fall short and only do 40 million, that is still a huge amount of new revenue. Combine that with the launch of a new phone and size, loaded with new fitness and medical features, I see a hell of a lot potential for the stock.

  • Apple: Time To Scrap The iPod [View article]
After selling so many for so many years, sales have slowed because most people have one or two already. So the sales drop is to be expected. But I believe people will continue to use them and newer iPods May have streaming radio which some will want. As they update future iPods with new features such as that and maybe some home automation capabilities, it will continue to sell. Maybe more and mabe less but they are still making tons of cash.

  • I Was Wrong About Apple [View article]
This guy might be making money for clicks reading his articles, but he is also making something else. A joke out of himself. He never ever gives up. He is the eternal apple bashing writer. Was on the run up to 700 and on the way down and ever since it was $400 with a single digit PE and back up to $650. Can't see value if it was staring him in the face. Keep writing those articles for money Michael. You have a lot to make up for on your losses on apple shorts. I for one can see value when a companies PE is 9 or 10 or even 14.5 today when it's paying a dividend, continues to buy back stock and has a line of new products, form factors and services on the way.

  • Apple Bulls: You Win [View article]
"Apple hasn't actually done anything". "Spending all it's cash buying companies it dosnt need for stupid evaluations". How would you know what Apple needs? You have no idea what they have in the pipeline and how they will merge these companies. And have you actually checked the valuations or just spitting out comments? Check you facts. This buy was a lot better valuation wise than you see google and Facebook doing. And as far as not doing anything. Buying back billions in stock while continuing to increase dividend is certainly something and adding value to the stock. In addition, have you noticed apple maps, (which has taken huge share away from google) adding new carriers to the iphone worldwide, or apple radio streaming service. Have you heard of the products and services in the pipeline. You obviously have not done your research. If you had, you would have been on the boat last year when the PE was around 9. Wake up!

  • Apple: Q2 Results Are Not What They Seem [View article]
Michael Blair. I think you are out on a limb here on this one. If you are hoping to see the stock lower because you are short, I think you might be reaching for a branch that isn't there. If it is, it might not be strong enough to hold you. With a couple of new phones with the much wanted larger screens, I see a lot of loyal customers switching up to larger phones. Possibly a third iphone users going bigger in the first year. That's. Huge number of new iphone sales. How many of those customers are going to buy a watch?

  • Apple Officially Breaks Out [View article]
Agreed. 2 new iPhones and the loyalist of customers to any company. I see half of the apple loving fans upgrade to larger screens within 1 to 2 years, driving incredible sales for the next 2 years. Combine that with iwatch, possibly mobile payments and you can see incredible revenues generated for a while to come.

  • Apple: Not Out Of The Woods Yet [View article]
And so is apple. New iOS, new fingerprint scanner, new watch soon, new tv son, newer bigger phones soon, etc. And they can continue to get better. So while the competition have or don't have one up, so too can apple. My guess is when they launch a watch, they'll get it more right than samsung did and generate far more sales until samsung copy and tweak it to match.

  • Can iPhone Earnings Continue To Grow In 2014? [View article]
Come Christmas the 5C will pick up. I see a lot of parents opting to buy the 5C over the 5S for their kid who desires an iPhone and save a few bucks. I think Apple saw this moving forward and made the launch. It's going to appeal to parents who are dishing out the cash and think the 5C will be enough for their kid, while keeping that extra cash in the wallet. Same goes for Chinese New Years a couple months later.

  • Apple: Is It Finally Time To Buy? [View article]
I agree with above statement. Apple management has already stated they will hand back more cash. The rest of the article is somewhat speculative to the negative, just like the positives are speculative to the upside. We don't know where people will start to buy back in. It could be a 5 PE, or the market could wake up tomorrow and feel its cheap now. Or they could launch a new product or phone like that of the new Blackberry. Again all speculative just like your article speculates they won't do much or their products won't have much impact.

  • Apple (AAPL) +0.7% premarket with RBC speculating an iWatch could add $7B-$9B in revenue and $1.50-$2.00 in EPS for the company. [View news story]
Cut it in half and its still new money they don't yet have.

  • "Apple absolutely has to make an iPhone with a bigger screen," iPhone 5 owner Henry Blodget declares. While Apple (AAPL +0.1%) insists on using relatively small display sizes to guarantee effective one-handed iPhone use, devices such as Samsung's Galaxy S III (4.8" display) make the iPhone 5 look "puny and sad in comparison."  The iPhone 5's display size doesn't seem to be affecting its U.S. position much, as Strategy Analytics' numbers demonstrate, but international markets appear to be a different story. [View news story]
@padgreen1966. Reading what? Books, or emails? Can you tell? "Most people outside USA" you say? I don't think looking around the London tube is a good sampling of "most people outside the USA". The world is a big place. I live outside the USA and not in London. I also travel extensively and I don't see what you see. Sure there are some people who use it for reading both in USA and outside, but I see enough tablets around that suggest most use those for reading. I do think however, apple would do well to sell a larger screen phone. I think I might buy one because I read and respond to enough emails that it would be easier on the eyes as would doing other things.

  • Some Apple (AAPL +1.7%) commentary: 1) Respected NYU valuation theorist Aswath Damodaran thinks there's a 90% chance Apple is undervalued, and dares investors to buy. "It is easy being a contrarian value investor, in the abstract, but much more difficult to be one in practice." 2) Raymond James notes the gap that has opened up between the iPhone's performance in the U.S. and elsewhere. While AT&T and Verizon's Q4 iPhone sales rose 25% Y/Y (sales of all other smartphones fell 2%), international growth is expected to fall to 15% in Q1 (below the market's growth). [View news story]
Its gaining share in a lot of the world. China doubled last years sale. So what will it do in 2013? I live in Bangkok. iPhone 5 is hot and desired. Officially authorised Apple stores called istudio are packed. That said, Samsung is also hugely popular. I think if most could afford, they would buy iphone. Some prefer the new Samsung larger design and are switching. Some are disappointed and miss the apple ecosystem and switch back. I know people in both camps. I've tried both and prefer apple. If apple comes out with a few new design sizes which I think are currently in the making, we are going to see new interest at Samsungs expense. Maybe also at apples profit margin expense. But one most get into the apple ecosystem, most don't want to leave. Then it becomes a software and content profit. App and iTunes and movie downloads.

  • Apple: Adding A Beaten Up Giant To The Team Alpha Retirement Portfolio [View article]
It's had a few bumps. It's hard to argue that it is not fairly to under valued at this time. Compared to most other companies PE, we can say it it cheap. Doesn't mean it won't get cheaper due to the negativity that's going around. Margins are getting squeezed, but could that have been due to costs of a large recycle of new designs which required new tooling? Iphone 5 new size and design, iPad mini, new iPad with new plugs and well as new macs. I think this must have had something to do with margins getting squeezed. Higher initial build costs. It's also possible those costs might continue as they build new designs more often to compete more aggressively. But I think you will most likely see better margins this quarter as they continue selling iphone 5 and iPad mini but with those design costs behind them.
