  • The Factors That Will Drive Gold Higher Soon: Gold Forward Rate, China And India [View article]
    For a variety of fundamental reasons on my recent instablog posting, I am extremely bearish and significantly short gold. Technically it is, very very close to breaking lower, IMO. Below 1290, certainly below 1280 would confirm this.

    This is political to win minority votes, and I doubt it goes anywhere.

    For the uneducated; (RIG) and (http://bit.ly/Gztvwv) are deepwater drillers.

    (http://bit.ly/1qPUOuU) is a land - based driller based in Canada. They will benefit greatly from higher Nat Gas prices, oil sands and the Keystone pipeline, which I expect to ultimately be approved. The stock would blast off on the news, along with the entire Canadian energy sector, which one catalyst why I am focused there with 4 energy names.

    I never, ever, ever buy a stock purely because a high dividend yield. Often a high yield is kept in place to support a weak underlying business or sector. The price falls, falls, falls, then the dividend is often cut, as a generalization, if the underlying business is not sound.

    Just my thoughts, but one has to ask when the (http://bit.ly/InltIn) is rallying like crazy, even the broader (http://bit.ly/VMT3kW) services sector is strong, and these stocks can hardly rally off 52 week lows, what the issue must be.

    People of course can do what they want.

    With respect I don't think so! Was it Barclays -- can't recall -- just did an extensive report and Reiterated a $94.00 target. Stock keeps working higher here. $90 target from me. Long HLF

    BTW I make my own decisions as well.

    Another strong day for Energy, and another - 2% for (ESV), (RIG) very weak too. Think I'll stick with (PDS) When you see a sector like energy thats absolutely on fire -- and your stock is tanking; thats not a good thing.

    D;

    All businesses are regulated. We do not live in a nanny state where success in any enterprise is to be guaranteed by a gov't agency. That's why this investigation is very likely a noise event. To compare signing up as a distributor for $79 or whatever it is, with a company with an explicit money back guarantee, to Bernie Madoff, and (to short) on that belief --- seems unwise.

    Clearly product is consumed and revenues generated from said product. I'm not going to debate who consumes the product and whatever.

    Yes the company will be fined; both because spotlight is now on the FTC and they would look like absolute fools if they didn't, and also because some HLF distributors have likely made dumb promises.

    However; if you shut down every business that exaggerated claims, America would shut down tomorrow. That's why, we have regulators, who I expect will tell them to refrain from unrealistic claims. I am long because far worse than a fine or reporting is priced into the stock, and have no issue with it. Good luck.

    No-one here critiquing is claiming to be short the stock. Why not if its a Madoff scam?

    I measure the rationale of the bears, and find it wanting . The most likely scenario, is a 1-5 million dollar fine, enhanced supervision -- both maintain the FTC"s credibility -- and the stock flies, likely immediately to 80-90.
