  • Dividend Paying Whole Life Insurance - The Alternative Fixed Income Vehicle (Part 3) [View article]
I'd like to hear more from the Author on which companies to use. I've been studying this in fits and starts for 3 years now but haven't pulled the trigger. I haven't quite been able to "trust" it and just jump. I am a member of Knights of Columbus which has some very affordable rates and I've got a projection (using term rider and PAUR) that is pretty good but it's still not an "indirect recognition" company (meaning when you take loan out, you still get full dividend on what's left even though you took a loan against it...so you have 100k CV, you take loan for 80K, you still get dividend on 100K PLUS the benefit of whatever you're doing with the 80K!!!)

  • The Misplaced Mania Over Dividend-Paying Stocks [View article]
Keeping it even simpler, it would appear that "everyone down to high school level" knows that dividend aristocrats are the "best, safest, steadiest, under appreciated thign to invest in" --that fact in and of itself should be enough to "cause pause."

  • Are We Witnessing A Dividend Bubble? [View article]
I like this test for bubbles: have you observed any of the following phenomena? If you see 2 or more of these, further financial analysis are unneccesary. (I'll use dividend aristocrats to blanket cover all stocks that are yielding above 2.5% and growing annually for past 10 years minimum)

    1. Are high school kids using the term "dividend aristocrats?"
    2. Is there a "dividend aristocrat" iPhone or facebook app?
    3. Is your neighbor throwing an impromptu "dividend aristocrat" party?
    4. Have you seen a vehicle with the license plate "BIG-DIVS"?
    5. Has your local credit union advertised a "dividend aristocrat margin loan" special? (okay this one is a stretch!)

  • Netflix: Defying the Laws of Gravity [View article]
I've used both BBI and NFLX and netflix gets to my house a full 2 days ahead of BBI and the movies get back to net 2 days faster than they get back to BBI, plus the streaming .... and we have a city of 30,000 people with no BBI (just redbox) -- these things may not be the case elsewhere, as I live in Waterville Maine area, but to me, blockbuster is a distant second.

  • Replicate The Yale Endowment With These ETFs [View article]
I would second that - a spreadsheet -- also, could you direct us to a website that tracks the 10 month SMA vs. the 200 / 50 days which seem to be more common? Thanks!
